If these two teams get anywhere near those numbers today, they are going to fly over the 143.5-point threshold. Spain and Mali also were no strangers to the free-throw line, with each team getting to the stripe on 16 occasions.
Spain and Mali are loaded with high-volume shooting threats that can get hot. If these teams trade three-point baskets, this could be one of the lowest projected lines of the day.

Spain showed their dominance in a 30-point blowout against a very talented German team that played in front of their home crowd. The next page in Spain's story will be the highly aggressive and relentless Mali team, who fell just shy of scoring 100 points in their opening game against Japan. Our issue is not with the magnificent offense Mali displayed; it's the fact that they gave up 100 points to a Japan team that doesn't come close to the talent of this fantastic Spain team.
Spain decimated Germany very early on, and never looked back. Normally, you would expect Spain to regress from a hot shooting start. However, Spain attempted almost 30 three-pointers in 40 minutes. The team is looking to outshoot opponents to create open shots. Mali clearly is not shy about letting their opener shoot. Spain turned Germany over on 12 possessions, while Mali gave the ball away on 17 possessions. If they repeat that atrocious ball security in this game, expect Spain to lead in the double digits going into the later stages of the contest.

Germany vs. Japan
The line currently sits at 5.5 in favor of Japan. However, given the opposite sides of success the two teams experienced yesterday, it would not be surprising to see it increase before tip-off. -5.5 is probably the best you're going to get, so it would make sense to jump on this as early as you can get it. The public will more than likely steam the line north of 5.5 considering Japan played so well yesterday, and Germany started out very slow.
Japan pushed the pace non-stop against Mali yesterday, yet still conceded 97 points. Germany will be looking to bounce back, and despite the quick turnaround, Japan looks like the sharper of the two teams. The German team was dreadful today on the shooting front, and even more so on defense. Germany allowed 75 points through three quarters earlier today and allowed their opponent to make 53% of their field-goal attempts and 50% of their attempts from beyond the arc. Japan looks locked in and in great shape to cover 5.5 points against Germany.

Germany vs. Japan
Germany kicked off the tournament by coming out completely flat against a very aggressive Spain team. Germany scored 39 points through the first three quarters - a scenario we highly doubt will be repeated. Frieda Buhner picked up two early fouls and never got into rhythm. Germany failed to record 20 field goals, while shooting an abysmal 29% from the field and 17% from beyond the arc.
We expect a bounce-back performance against a Japan squad that just scored 100 points in an absolute shootout against Mali. Japan gave up 25 points in the first 10 minutes of play and put up 25 of their own. It's not difficult to envision each team scoring at least 20 points in the first quarter. This should give us a little wiggle room. Oddsmakers have been sharp at line placement for over/under bets through this tournament. So, every basket counts.
