A Kentucky-bred horse bought by Japanese owners at auction two years ago, Danon Bourbon has gone a perfect 3-for-3 in Japan, all at nine furlongs or longer, winning those three starts by a combined 181/2 lengths. Japan-run horses are always a mystery when shipping to the States. Beyer & Equibase Speed Figures aren't available for his races, which contributes to the mystery, but some Japanese racing specialists estimated his last win at Fukuryu would translate to a Beyer equivalent of 97.
