Recent Form & Racing Style

Fulleffort is a tactical stalker with off-the-pace capability. He won the Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3) in March and earned his maiden win at Kentucky Downs in September.

Betting Outlook

Fulleffort, another Brad Cox-trained horse, goes off from Post No. 20. There have been just two winners from that spot in the history of the Kentucky Derby, although Rich Strike did it as recently as 2022. And, 15.8 percent of horses from the No. 20 post have finished inside the money. In four of the past seven Kentucky Derbys, the winner has come from Post No. 15 or higher. So, a little recent history, and being Cox-trained, is definitely on the side of Fulleffort. Jockey Tyler Gaffalione has never won the Kentucky Derby, however. The St. Elias Stable and Starlight Racing owned horse has three starts in 2026, posting a victory last time out at Turfway Park in the Jeff Ruby Stakes (G3), with an Equibase score of 99. In the past five races, the Kentucky-born horse has three wins, and two second-place runs, although this is a giant step up in competition in a loaded field. It wouldn’t be stunning to see Fulleffort make it into the money, but don’t expect an outright win.
