College Basketball Odds, Picks & Predictions: Saturday (11/25)

We took a bit of a beating last Saturday in this column. My apologies for that, especially since I’ve managed a documented record of 24-12 (67%, with a $1,084 ROI) in the past seven days. Unfortunately, I cannot include every single pick I offer/sell, but just because a column is free doesn’t mean I do not care. I care deeply and want you to benefit and win. Otherwise, why do this?

If you’re a college basketball bettor, you cannot know all 300+ teams. Find about four or five conferences, and get to know those teams like the back of your hand. Don’t try and bet too many teams, or you’ll be just betting to bet. As such, in this column, you might see a lot of the same teams pop up each week.

Saturday’s Best College Basketball Bets

Loyola (MD) at Missouri

The Greyhounds (1-4) hit the road for Columbia, Mo. to meet the Tigers (4-2) on Saturday afternoon. Loyola has dropped three straight games since an upset 77-75 OT win at Brown as a 10.5-point underdog. After going 2-0 ATS in the first two games, Loyola has lost and failed to cover the past three games. That includes an ugly 94-79 loss at UMBC as a 4.5-point underdog.

The Tigers bounced back from a shocking 73-72 loss at home to Jackson State as a 22-point favorite, topping South Carolina State 82-59 as a 24.5-point favorite. Mizzou has won four of the first six games, but it is 0-6 ATS to date, while also cashing the Under in five in a row.

As a double-digit underdog, Loyola has covered both games and, again, Mizzou is 0-6 ATS overall. Back the small school to keep it within 19 or fewer points, although it will likely be close.

Bets: Loyola (MD) +19.5 (-110)

Jackson State at Georgetown

The Tigers (1-5) head to the nation’s capital to tangle with Ed Cooley’s Hoyas (3-2). It’s been a road odyssey for Jackson State, playing six games to date on the road in the first two weeks of the season.

Jackson State opened with five straight losses, and just a single cover, going to Memphis, before traveling to California for three games, and then to Tulsa and Missouri. The Tigers struck for a giant upset against Mizzou as a 22-point underdog, winning 73-72. As an underdog of 20 or more points, Jackson State is 2-0 ATS.

I caught a Georgetown game on Nov. 7 in person against Le Moyne. I was impressed by the Hoyas, but it was also Le Moyne. However, Cooley has the makings of a solid team with Jayden Epps and Supreme Cook. I think the Tigers are going to have trouble containing the big bodies of the Hoyas.

Bet: Georgetown -10.5 (-120)

UNC Wilmington at Florida Gulf Coast

The Seahawks (4-1) are down in southwest Florida at Alico Arena for a battle with the Eagles (1-5) from Dunk City. UNC Wilmington was pounded 86-56 by Appalachian State on a neutral floor last time out, failing to cover as a 2.5-point favorite. UNCW is 0-2 ATS in the past two games, too, and defense has been an issue. In fact, for same-game parlay players, UNCW is a team worth watching for Over bets, going 3-0 in three games against Division I teams.

The Eagles have lost five of six games outright, and have failed to cover each of the past four games. That includes losses to Norfolk State, Hampton, and Missouri State. The loss to the Pirates of Hampton came by seven points in a game it was favored by 10.5 points.

UNCW has hit 88.6 PPG to rank 18th in the nation, and it is the No. 2 ranked team from behind the 3-point arc, hitting at a 44.4% clip. On the flip side, FGCU ranks 334th in the nation, allowing teams to hit 38.3% from the 3-point line. That will be the difference, and why UNCW runs away with the win and cover.

Bet: UNC Wilmington Moneyline (+100)

Northern Illinois at DePaul

The Huskies of NIU (4-1) take the short jaunt to Rosemont from DeKalb looking to stay hot. NIU has won four straight games since losing 92-70 in the opener at Marquette, but it did cover a 25-point spread as an underdog. NIU has covered all four games against Division I opponents to date.

For the Blue Demons (1-4), they were just blasted 70-54 by San Francisco on a neutral floor at Desert Diamond Arena in Arizona. DePaul has played five games, while also going just 1-4 ATS overall. As such, it’s hard to imagine why the books have installed the Blue Demons as a favorite.

Bet: Northern Illinois +3.5 (-110)
