Indianapolis Colts vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Game Pick)

The Indianapolis Colts lost their opener, 41-23, agaisnt the Baltimore Ravens. Ultimately, the Colts were never in that game, surrendering 31 points in the first half alone. The offense wasn’t poor, but the defense allowed 506 total yards, including 202 yards on the ground. The run defense was absolutely abysmal, which likely won’t help the Colts when they face Kenneth Walker III of the Chiefs.

Walker needed just 23 carries to gain 173 rushing yards against the Denver Broncos last week. The Broncos were expected to be one of the NFL’s best defenses, but the Chiefs made everyone question that. No team ran the ball as well as the Chiefs did in Week 1, and that should carry over to Week 2.

That said, the Chiefs didn’t pass the ball well against the Broncos. Patrick Mahomes went 15-for-27 with only 184 yards passing. He threw two touchdowns, ran for another, and threw one interception. He’s had better games, but either way the running game should help open up the passing game Kansas City has lacked this for a while.

Plus, the Colts weren’t any better in the secondary when facing the Ravens. For example, Zay Flowers gained 150 yards in the first half and didn’t even return in the second half due to injury. Ja’Kobi Lane was also injured in that game. Yet, the Ravens still found success on offense in the fourth quarter to close it out against the Colts.

I’ll take the Chiefs at -6.5 at home on Sunday Night Football.

      Pick: Chiefs -6.5 (-115)

Kenneth Walker III Rushing Yards (Player Prop)

It’s easy to get excited after one game, but this isn’t just a one-game thing. Kenneth Walker III won the Super Bowl MVP to close out last year’s season after the Seahawks won it all. Walker can be one of the most elite running backs if he becomes the bell cow for the Chiefs this season.

He’s averaged 116.6 rushing yards in his last five games, including the playoffs.

When Walker was with the Seahawks, he struggled to even get 15 carries in some games. With the Chiefs, 20+ carries a game seems very reasonable. With the way the Chiefs threw the ball in Week 1, they’ll likely rely on him even more.

Therefore, I’ll back Walker to add at least 80 rushing yards against the Colts in Week 2 on Sunday Night Football.

Pick: Kenneth Walker III Over 79.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
