College Football Same Game Parlays: First Round Playoffs

College Football Same Game Parlays: First Round Playoffs

Round one of the College Football Playoff (CFP) begins today. We have got four matchups on the slate, including tonight’s Alabama-Oklahoma game. Ultimately, that SEC rematch and the Miami-Texas A&M games are expected to be much closer games than the Tulane-Ole Miss and Oregon-James Madison matchups.

Therefore, I’ve added college football same-game parlays and picks for those two games below.

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

No. 9 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners

  • Leg 1: John Mateer Over 197.5 Passing Yards (-114)
  • Leg 2: Ryan Williams Under 46.5 Receiving Yards (-114)
  • Leg 3: Alabama Moneyline (-104)

John Mateer threw for 318 yards against the LSU Tigers in his last start for the Oklahoma Sooners. The Oklahoma quarterback has completed over 60% of his passes in the past 10 games, but he finished with only 138 yards passing against Alabama in an earlier game this season. Ultimately, Alabama’s pass rush hasn’t been very disruptive this year. It’s not up to Alabama’s standards. That should allow Mateer enough time to make some plays. In addition, I’ve got Alabama winning, so I’d like to think Mateer will throw the ball a lot in the fourth quarter.

But while I’ve got Alabama winning outright, it doesn’t mean Ryan Williams will be the star of the show. In fact, he’s finished with no more than 45 receiving yards in each of his last four games. In those four games, he’s earned no more than three catches. Willliams is not who everyone thought he’d be this year.

With that said, Alabama already lost to Oklahoma once in the regular season. It’s hard to replicate success against a top-12 team. That’s what Alabama is. The Sooners have been way better offensively this season, adding 406 points to Oklahoma’s 317. Ultimately, yes, Alabama played one more game, but scored just seven points in the SEC Championship game against Georgia.

Parlay Odds: +582

No. 10 Miami Hurricanes vs. No. 7 Texas A&M Aggies

  • Leg 1: Carson Beck Over 234.5 Passing Yards  (-114)
  • Leg 2: Mark Fletcher Jr. Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+170)
  • Leg 3: Miami Moneyline (+132)

You’re going to hear a lot about how great the SEC is compared to the ACC. That’s a fair assessment. The ACC probably didn’t deserve any teams in the College Football Playoff.

That said, the Miami Hurricanes match up better across the board.

Carson Beck has thrown for at least 247 passing yards in five straight games. Meanwhile, the Texas A&M Aggies have allowed 263 points this season, compared to Miami’s 166 points allowed. The secondary has had its hiccups, and the tackling is never perfect for Texas A&M. Let’s also not forget that these stats were accumulated against the bottom half of the SEC. The scheduling was favorable to the Aggies. Beck, who once played in the SEC for Georgia, won’t be intimidated.

In addition, Miami running back Mark Fletcher Jr. has scored a touchdown in four of his last five games. He hasn’t had many long rushes over the last couple of weeks, but he’s averaged a touchdown per game in the previous 10 games. If we expect Miami to win outright, we should also be confident that Mark Fletcher Jr. will find the end zone.

In Addition, the Aggies might have scored 436 points on offense this season. But the team’s passing game hasn’t clicked. The run block should also struggle against Miami’s defensive line. Let’s take the Hurricanes to pull off the upset.

Parlay Odds: +590
