Overview

After suffering an embarrassing loss to the 49ers last Sunday night, the Packers look to bounce back on Sunday. However, they look to be without star right tackle Bryan Bulaga. But besides that, the Packers remain relatively healthy heading into Week 13. The Packers have transformed into a run-first team under Matt LaFleur, but average just 103.5 rushing yards per game. Aaron Rodgers has been a bit inconsistent this season, but at the end of the day, he can still make any pass on the field and has the ability to carry a team to a win. However, he does not have much production from his receiving corps, outside of Davante Adams. Defensively, the Packers surrender 125.5 yards on the ground and Kevin King has given up the most yards by a cornerback this season by over 100 yards. Big plays continue to hurt the Pack defensively, and they must find a way to limit them down the stretch this season.

The Giants seem to have rolled over and given up on the season, after losing seven games in a row. The sad part is it looks like they are really trying, but their defense is too untalented and Pat Shumur is too poor of a play-caller for them to have success. They have allowed an average of 29.6 points over their last five games, and only one of those games were against a team with a winning record (Cowboys). Offensively, this team has gone as far as Saquon Barkley could take them over the past two seasons. The problem with that is he has averaged 2.0 yards per carry over his last three games. For the Giants to have a chance on Sunday, they must get better production from the second-year running back.

Trends

Away Team (Packers) Total Points: Over 26.5 (-114)
The Giants’ defense has been terrible this season, giving up the fourth-most points in the league (28.0). They’ve surrendered at least 27 points in six of their last seven games, with the only team failing to hit that mark being the struggling Chicago Bears last week. The Packers, who average 23.5 PPG, are coming off a tough loss, so expect Aaron Rodgers to get on the board early and often against the worst-graded cornerback group in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.

Bottom Line

After the last big loss for the Packers, they responded with a big win over the Carolina Panthers, clearing the spread. Facing a defense as bad as the Giants’, there is no question that the Packers will score. The relevant question is how many points will they allow to the Giants. The Giants’ offensive line has done a poor job at protecting rookie Daniel Jones, allowing 23 sacks over the past five games. With the Smiths for the Packers coming off the edge, I believe their impact on this game will be massive, and it will force Jones into mistakes and keep their score low enough for the Packers to win both straight up and against the spread.

Pick: Green Bay Packers -6.5
