Friday’s Best MLB Player Props

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Joan Adon Over 4.5 Ks (-160)

I’ll hop on the Joan Adon train. Adon has struck out 26.8% of batters against 41 batters this season. Adon has earned a starting rotation spot after Washington decided to go with a six-man rotation moving forward.

Adon has allowed a .181 wOBA to his last 29 batters and has only allowed a .111 ISO while earning 66.7% of ground balls. He should be able to go deep into this game against Oakland.

Meanwhile, the Athletics’ projected lineup has struck out 26.4% of the time against righties in the last month. That lineup has seven batters striking out at least 26.6% of the time against righties. With seven targets and only five strikeouts needed, take Adon to earn at least five.

Johan Oviedo Over 5.5 Ks (-148)

Johan Oviedo has struck out 25.6% of batters over the last month. That’s much higher than his 20.7% strikeout average this season.

He’s earned 28.1% of strikeouts against lefties and will face a Reds lineup that will likely have more lefties than righties. The lefties have combined to strike out 31% of the time against righties over the last month. Meanwhile, the righties have also struggled, striking out 32.2% of the time.

With Cincinnati striking out nearly 31% of the time as a lineup against righties, Oviedo should be able to get six or more strikeouts tonight. He’s averaged 94.4 pitches per start over the last month and has held teams to a wOBA of .250 in that span too.

The Reds have eight batters striking out at least 24.3% of the time. Only T.J. Friedl has kept his strikeouts down over the last month against righties.

Tarik Skubal Over 5.5 Ks (+108)

Tarik Skubal has averaged over 31% of strikeouts this season. His rate against lefties has dipped slightly, but he’s still earning 30.9% of strikeouts against righties.

As a left-handed starter, he always faces more righties than lefties per start.

The Red Sox should have six righties in the lineup against Skubal tonight. Those righties have combined to strike out 47.2% of the time against lefties over the last month. The sample size is small for some batters, but Adam Duvall, for example, has struck out 47.1% in his 17 at-bats against lefties.

Skubal has earned 12.5% swinging strikes and has kept down to 2.6% over the last month. He’s also starting to increase his pitch count as the season progresses.

Let’s take Skubal to earn at least six strikeouts in tonight’s matchup against the Red Sox.
