Top 3 MLB Player Prop Bet Odds & Picks: Tuesday (7/30)

MLB Sleeper Player Picks & Predictions: Saturday (8/10)

There were plenty of impressive accomplishments by individual Major League Baseball players recently, starting with San Francisco Giants slugger Tyler Fitzgerald becoming the first player in franchise history with seven-plus home runs in an eight-game span since Barry Bonds in 2004. He was not the only Giants player to make history last week, as southpaw Blake Snell recorded 15 strikeouts in six innings, setting the mark for the most strikeouts by any pitcher since the mound was moved to this current distance in 1893 in an outing of six innings or fewer.

Tuesday's Best MLB Player Prop Bets

(MLB player prop bet odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Corbin Burnes to record a win

Corbin Burnes has won just one of his four July starts, but he would have wins in his last two starts had the Orioles not blown a 6-0 lead in his last outing after five innings against the Miami Marlins. The blown lead was not entirely Burnes’ fault, as he allowed just three earned runs in 7 1/3 innings. Instead, closer Craig Kimbrel is the biggest scapegoat, as he allowed the three tying runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, leaving Burnes with a no-decision.

That start was encouraging from Burnes, as he induced 11 ground balls, the third time he got 11 or more ground balls in his last eight starts. He has allowed two earned runs in 13 innings in his two starts against the Toronto Blue Jays this year, and this is a Blue Jays squad that is now without one of their best hitters, Bo Bichette. Conversely, we expect the Orioles to provide Burnes with plenty of run support against Chris Bassitt, whose .392 xSLG is his second-worst mark of the last seven years, and who ranks in the 18th percentile or worse in chase percentage and whiff rate.

DraftKings does not currently have a line for this wager, but with Baltimore being -198 moneyline favorites, we would play Burnes to record the victory down to -110.

Juan Soto Over 0.5 runs (-160

Juan Soto became just the third player in MLB history (Babe Ruth and Mark McGwire are the others) with 25-plus home runs and 80-plus walks in the first 100 games with a team. Soto has an excellent chance to plate himself against Phillies righty Aaron Nola, as he has three home runs against him in 33 career at-bats, and two other extra-base hits which compiles to a 1.095 OPS. Soto has slashed .273/.489/.606 against Nola, and he is also a threat to cross the plate when hitting in front of Aaron Judge, who was batting .317 with 31 home runs and 77 RBIs in the 70 games prior to the series finale against the Red Sox on Sunday. All Judge has done in the two games since is go 3-for-8 with two home runs and four RBIs.

Soto has scored at least one run in 10 of the last 13 games, and we expect him to cross the plate at least once tonight, especially with the Yankees having a projected team total of 4.5 runs.

Ketel Marte Over 1.5 total bases (-135)

Ketel Marte has egregious splits as a switch hitter, as he has slashed .356/.415/.698 against left-handed pitchers, and .265/.341/.449 against righties. In addition, 14 of his 24 home runs have come against southpaws despite having 96 fewer at-bats in that split, and he has been as consistent as they come in the warmer months, as he is on pace for his second straight month with an OPS above 1.065.

Marte should have success against Patrick Corbin, the only Nationals starting pitcher with a negative WAR rating (-0.3). Corbin has been lit up for a 5.52 ERA and a .326 OBA in 11 road starts, and given that he ranks in the lowest percentile in xBA, we expect Marte among others to take advantage of the struggling southpaw.
