There are fewer games to attack from an MLB same-game parlays (SGPs) perspective today with just eight games on the day’s slate. But my top two SGPs come from mouth-watering matchups, one that is an interleague affair between two iconic franchises, and one that could be a potential playoff preview in the National League.

St. Louis Cardinals at New York Yankees
- Leg 1: Yankees -1.5 (+101)
- Leg 2: Cam Schlittler Under 1.5 Earned Runs (-105)
- Leg 3: Jazz Chisholm to Record 1+ Hits (-173)
Something has to give for the Yankees, who haven't seen much success despite getting stellar starting pitching. In its four games leading up to Sunday, Yankees starting pitchers had allowed two combined runs, while the team won just one game. That marked the first time in franchise history New York had a four-game span with two or fewer runs allowed from starting pitchers with just one or fewer team wins.
St. Louis is a great opponent to get right against, given that it is an NL-worst 8-18 since July 5, while owning the second-worst winning percentage in the Majors.
Cam Schlittler has lost three of his last five decisions, but that is mostly because of a lack of run support, as he pitched to a 1.93 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 32.2 innings spanning five July starts.
Over St. Louis' final 24 games in July, its offense ranked last in fWAR, wRC+, average, on-base percentage, and slugging, and was 28th in home runs and 29th in WPA, respectively. And in that span, the Cardinals scored the fifth-fewest runs in the first five innings of games, which gives Schlittler a path to exit the game with the lead.
Chisholm has a great chance to do damage off of McGreevy's fastball or changeup, his two primary pitches that have xSLGs against of .572 and .420.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Chicago Cubs

- Leg 2: Matthew Boyd Under 1.5 Walks (-160)
- Leg 3: Teoscar Hernandez to Record 1+ Hits (-202)
The Cubs are a solid 23-20 against teams with a winning record, making them one of two MLB teams not currently leading a division that are over .500 in that split. Chicago had won seven straight games that Boyd started prior to a 3-2 loss in extra innings on Wednesday, a game which the Cubs led 2-0 going to the bottom of the 10th inning.
Los Angeles has egregious splits when facing left-handed starting pitchers as opposed to righties. It has a .576 winning percentage against southpaws, but an eye-popping .641 winning percentage against righties.
Los Angeles ranks 10th in walk rate and outside the top five in on-base percentage against left-handed pitching. And against southpaws in road games since the calendar turned to July, Los Angeles' 9.8% walk rate against lefties for the season plummets to a 29th-ranked 5.3% in that split.
Boyd has not walked more than one batter in any of his last three starts against teams currently occupying a playoff spot, and I expect him to come after the Dodgers sluggers tonight.
The soft-tossing Boyd ranks in the 23rd percentile in fastball velocity and the 19th percentile in barrels. His .506 xSLG against his fastball in particular has me skeptical about him keeping right-handed bats at bay.
