Tuesday’s Best MLB Underdog Fantasy Player Predictions
Elias Diaz LOWER 1.5 Runs + Hits + RBIs
Elias Diaz’s bat disappears on the road, even with the platoon advantage. According to FanGraphs, Diaz has had a .230 batting average, .283 OBP, .138 ISO and 78 wRC+ in 187 plate appearances against lefties on the road since 2022. Nick Lodolo is also not a pushover for righties. The 232 righties who’ve faced Lodolo this year have had a .205 batting average, .280 OBP, .348 slugging and .281 wOBA. Finally, Colorado’s dreadful offense likely won’t give Diaz run-production opportunities.
Rafael Devers HIGHER 2.0 Total Bases
Rafael Devers is having a big season at the dish and has thrived with the platoon advantage at home. In 337 plate appearances this year, Devers has hit 21 homers 16 doubles and four triples with a .292 batting average, .288 xBA, .591 slugging, .577 xSLG and .299 ISO. In addition, in 548 plate appearances against righties at home since 2022, Devers has hit 38 doubles, two triples and 27 homers with a .305 batting average, .563 slugging and .257 ISO.
Finally, he has a mouthwatering matchup. Joey Estes has allowed 10 doubles, one triple and four homers with a .264 batting average and .527 slugging to 101 lefties this season.
Jorge Soler HIGHER 7.5 Fantasy Points
Jorge Soler is a lefty-killer. In 299 plate appearances against southpaws since 2022, Soler has hit 23 homers with a .362 OBP, .325 ISO and 155 wRC+. The veteran slugger had a slow start to the year, but a move to the leadoff spot has kick-started his bat. In 42 plate appearances batting leadoff since June 28, he’s had a .310 OBP, .237 ISO and 123 wRC+.
Soler’s matchup is also stellar. Yusei Kikuchi has allowed 16 doubles, one triple, 10 homers and a .329 wOBA to 326 righties this year. Moreover, Soler has destroyed Kikuchi. According to Baseball Savant, in eight career plate appearances against Kikuchi, Soler has hit two homers with a .594 wOBA and .626 xwOBA.
Heliot Ramos HIGHER 7.0 Fantasy Points
Heliot Ramos is also a lefty-killer, and his “higher” selection correlates with Soler’s. The once-highly-regarded prospect has flourished this season. In 238 plate appearances, he’s had a .370 OBP, .218 ISO, .380 wOBA, .366 xwOBA and 152 wRC+. Finally, in 130 career plate appearances against lefties, Ramos has hit six homers with a .377 OBP, .252 ISO and 154 wRC+.
