Wednesday’s Best MLB Underdog Fantasy Player Predictions
Corey Seager HIGHER 1.5 Total Bases
Corey Seager is a monster with the platoon advantage at home. According to FanGraphs, in 460 plate appearances against right-handed pitchers at home since 2022, Seager has hit 28 doubles, one triple and 29 homers with a .329 batting average, .621 slugging and .292 ISO.
Meanwhile, lefties have teed off against Ross Stripling. The 201 lefties who’ve faced Stripling since 2023 have hit nine doubles, one triple and nine homers with a .305 batting average and .508 slugging.
Marcus Stroman LOWER 5.0 Strikeouts
Marcus Stroman hasn’t allowed an earned run in two starts this season, totaling 12.0 innings. However, his 23.6 CSW% this season is the lowest in his career, and his 8.5 SwStr% is his lowest since 2015. The veteran righty’s pitch modeling is lousy, too. This season, Stroman has 97 Stuff+, 93 Location+ and 91 Pitching+.
Stroman struck out four batters in his first start and six in his second. His matchup is also only average. The Marlins are tied for the 15th-highest strikeout rate (22.1 K%) versus right-handed pitchers this season. As a result, Stroman is on the Underdog Cheat Sheet with a projection of 4.0 strikeouts.
Aaron Judge HIGHER 1.5 Total Bases (1.1x Scorcher)
Aaron Judge should muscle up in an advantageous matchup. In 444 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Judge has hit 10 doubles and 37 homers with a .281 batting average, .610 slugging and .330 ISO. On the flip side, the 224 righties who’ve faced Ryan Weathers since last season have hit 15 doubles, one triple and nine homers with a .320 batting average and .546 slugging.
Tyler O’Neill HIGHER 7.5 Fantasy Points
In 279 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Tyler O’Neill has had a .373 OBP, .245 ISO and 139 wRC+. The hitter-friendly park factors at Fenway Park will boost his production. Since last season, Cole Irvin has allowed a .323 wOBA to 288 right-handed batters.
