Wednesday’s Best MLB Underdog Fantasy Player Predictions
Jake Burger HIGHER 2.5 Total Bases (Scorcher 1.12x)
According to FanGraphs, in 330 plate appearances against lefties since 2022, Jake Burger has hit 19 doubles and 23 homers with a .252 batting average, .545 slugging and .292 ISO. The right-handed slugger is also locked in and has a mouthwatering matchup tonight.
In Burger’s previous 117 plate appearances, he’s hit five doubles and 12 homers with a .294 batting average, .696 slugging and .402 ISO. Conversely, Kyle Freeland has coughed up 13 doubles, four triples, 13 homers, a .304 batting average and .522 slugging to righties this season. And, of course, Burger’s outlook for total bases will get a lift from the park factors at Coors Field.
Joc Pederson HIGHER 7.5 Fantasy Points
Joc Pederson is a handful for righties. Since 2022, Pederson has had a .369 OBP, .238 ISO and 141 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. He’s also in a groove. In Pederson’s last 78 plate appearances, he’s hit five homers and stolen one base with a .474 OBP, .288 ISO and 197 wRC+.
Luis Severino is ill-equipped to cool down Pederson. Severino has served up a .348 wOBA to 162 lefties on the road this season. Last year, he coughed up a .511 wOBA to 116 lefties on the road.
Anthony Santander HIGHER 7.0 Fantasy Points
Walker Buehler has been a shell of himself since returning from his second Tommy John surgery. The 105 lefties who’ve faced Buehler this year have had a .450 wOBA.
Meanwhile, Anthony Santander has had a .306 OBP, .232 ISO and 118 wRC+ against righties since 2022. The switch-hitting outfielder is also having an excellent season at the dish, popping 38 homes with a .302 OBP, .282 ISO, 128 wRC+, .346 wOBA and .332 xwOBA in 543 plate appearances.
Gunnar Henderson HIGHER 8.5 Fantasy Points
Gunnar Henderson’s prop for fantasy points correlates with Santander’s. Henderson, like his teammate, has a dreamy matchup against Buehler. Baltimore’s shortstop is an even better hitter than Santander, too. In 592 plate appearances this season, Henderson has hit 33 homers and stolen 15 bases with a .368 OBP, .261 ISO and 157 wRC+. Finally, he’s excelled with the platoon advantage, tallying a .353 OBP, .270 ISO and 151 wRC+ in his career against righties.
