Wednesday’s Best MLB Underdog Fantasy Player Predictions
Trevor Larnach HIGHER 1.5 Total Bases (Scorcher 1.12x)
Trevor Larnach is in a groove in a career year at the plate. According to FanGraphs, in Larnach’s previous 24 games and 78 plate appearances, he’s hit six doubles and four homers with a .265 batting average, .529 slugging and .265 ISO. The left-handed-hitting outfielder also has a Charmin-soft matchup. Jack Kockanowicz has allowed nine doubles, one homer, a .318 batting average and .459 slugging to 91 lefties while striking out only five.
Yordan Alvarez HIGHER 1.5 Total Bases (0.83x)
Yordan Alvarez is having a massive season at the plate. In 583 plate appearances this year, he’s hit 31 doubles, two triples and 32 homers with a .312 batting average, .307 xBA, .570 slugging, .611 xSLG and .258 ISO. Joey Estes is unlikely to slow down Alvarez. The 22-year-old righty has allowed nine doubles, one triple, six homers, a .274 batting average and .579 slugging to 110 lefties on the road this season.
Ian Happ HIGHER 7.0 Fantasy Points
Switch-hitting Ian Happ is a handful for righties. Since 2022, he’s had a .357 OBP, .194 ISO and 126 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. Happ is also having a well-rounded season. In 138 games and 585 plate appearances, he’s hit 23 homers and stolen 11 bases with 81 runs, 81 RBIs, a .342 OBP, .211 ISO, 125 wRC+, .346 OBP and .350 xwOBA.
Happ has a drool-inducing matchup. Bobby Miller has coughed up eight homers, a .374 OBP, .574 slugging and .4032 wOBA to 107 lefties this year.
Dansby Swanson HIGHER 1.5 Total Bases (Scorcher 1.23x)
Dansby Swanson is a right-handed batter. Fortunately, his matchup against Miller is also delectable. Miller has allowed seven homers, a .383 OBP, .545 slugging and .398 wOBA to 115 righties this year. The young pitcher is also unimpressive at slowing the running game, ceding five stolen bases in 11 starts this season after allowing 14 in 22 starts last season.
Meanwhile, Swanson is an average hitter against righties but has been locked in lately. In Swanson’s last 26 games and 106 plate appearances, he’s hit five homers and stolen eight bases with 23 runs, 21 RBIs, a .321 OBP, .223 ISO and 120 wRC+.
