Friday’s Best NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions
PrizePicks record: 86-62-1
Dejounte Murray More Than 8.5 Assists
Without Trae Young in the fold, it’s The Dejounte Murray Show in Atlanta. In 11 games without Trae, Murray has exceeded this number on seven occasions, averaging 8.7 assists per game. The Hawks will also be without Jalen Johnson in this one. He does a decent amount of facilitating as well and is second on the team in passes and potential assists (7.3) over the last six games without Young.
The Grizzlies don’t profile as the best matchup possible, but we have seen a decent amount of Point Guards hover around this line more recently:
- Dennis Schroder (9)
- Ashton Hagans (8)
- Mike Conley (7)
- James Harden (8)
- Damian Lillard (7)
- Vasilije Micic (9)
- Coby White (8)
Given the lack of playmaking options in Memphis, Murray should find his way to at least nine assists in this one.
Tyus Jones More Than 9.5 Assists
His Rebound+Assist prop was faded on Wednesday in this article, but that was a brutal matchup against the Magic. Taking on Charlotte will be a much easier task. They have allowed the fourth most assists per game to Point Guards this season and are 28th in adjusted defensive net rating. Jones has nine or more assists in nine of his last 12 games, averaging 10.8 per game. Exclude the games in which he played under 30 minutes over this span, and he has nine or more in eight of nine. His 18.5 potential assists over this 12-game span is the highest in the league. With a three-point spread, this game shouldn’t get out of hand, and Jones should find double-digit assists once again.
Paolo Banchero More Than 21.5 Points
This Knicks defense is a shell of its former self. Without OG Anunoby around, they are 25th in defensive net rating and have allowed the fourth most points per game to opposing Power Forwards. Paolo contributed to that rate, posting 36 against them on Valentine’s Day. He did shoot 6-of-10 from three that night, but the point remains: New York can’t play defense right now.
Similar scorers to Banchero that have faced them recently include Jalen Johnson (26), Jonathan Kuminga (25), Zion Williamson (21), and Jaylen Brown (30). Paolo is averaging 22.9 points per game and 34.8 minutes per game. When he has played at least 34 minutes, he is over this mark in 31-of-41 (76%) games. This game should remain close throughout, considering the one-point spread separating the teams. If that’s the case Paolo should have ample time on the floor and exceed this number.
