Three nights ago, Randle went for 57 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite his incredible performance, his team still lost that game. Randle is averaging 27.5 points per game this month, but he has gotten to that number through very inconsistent play.
Randle has two 30-point games, one 50-point game, and one 40-point game this month. His other seven games all saw him score less than 25. The Magic are decent defensively, but the Knicks have been playing excellent offense of late. They are fifth in the NBA in offensive efficiency, and a big reason for that is the play of Randle. The Magic are no pushover defensively, but Randle has taken more than 20 shots in five of his last seven games. Tonight that will result in success.
Allen has pulled down 12 or more rebounds in three consecutive games. This current streak comes after three straight games where he pulled down seven or fewer in each contest. Normally, this would be a spot where I would go against Allen's recent trends and expect him to revert to his season average of 9.9 rebounds per game. But the Nets have no one to rebound the ball.
Nic Claxton is averaging 9.2 rebounds per game. The next best rebounder on the team who is also active on Thursday is Royce O'Neal. He's averaging just 5.0 per game. Allen has a huge advantage down low in this game, which is why this number is set above his season average. If he plays to his ability, he should hit this with ease.
Rozier has had difficulties shooting the ball in his last couple of games. He has made more than two three-pointers just once in his last seven games, despite shooting the ball at a high rate. He is still averaging 2.5 made three-pointers for the month, and he is averaging 3.0 per game this season.
The only bad news for Rozier is that the Pelicans have the best three-point shooting defense in the entire NBA. Still, they allow their opponents to make 33% of their threes, and Rozier is averaging eight attempts per game this month. It's going to be close, but he should just get over this number tonight.
