    Atlanta Hawks (-142) at Charlotte Hornets (+120) | O/U 226.5 (-110/-110)

The Hawks (1-0) and Hornets (1-0) meet at Spectrum Center at 7:00 p.m. ET. Last season, Charlotte won three of the four meetings outright, while covering in all four of the outings. That included a 2-0 SU/ATS mark at home.

Atlanta opened the season with a high-scoring 132-125 victory in Orlando as a 2.5-point underdog while the Over (243.5) cashed despite being a super high number. The Hawks shot 49% (44 of 90) from the field, while going 39% (14-of-36) from behind the three-point line. The Hawks had a plus-3 margin in rebounding, while turning it over three fewer times. Atlanta had six players go for 10 or more points, including Nickeil Alexander-Walker going for a team-best 31 points with five triples. Jalen Johnson was good for 20 points and 14 rebounds with six assists, too.

Charlotte went to Brooklyn and came away with a 110-103 win, but it didn’t come close to covering as a 12.5-point favorite. The fact the Hornets were favored by double digits should tell you a little more about how bad the Nets are, than how good the Hornets are expected to be.

Charlotte made a slew of offseason moves, some of which seemed a bit on the questionable side. It looked like the organization was moving in the right direction. The moves looked good against the Nets, though, as newcomer Naz Reid had 20 points and 11 rebounds with four three-pointers, and Grayson Allen went for 21 points off the bench, hitting five triples. Dennis Schroder dropped 19 points, too.

We’re still going to roll with the Hawks to get the job done on the road, and we’ll go high on the total, as, in recent years, Atlanta always seems to make things exciting in terms of scoring, and this season looks to be more of the same.

For the player props, we’ll play it ultra-conservative. As such, do not play these straight up, at least the second part, as there is no value in that, but we can get higher than 4X coupling them with the Hawks and Over. We’ll simply take Jalen Johnson to get to a double-double, which he easily did in the opener. And, all we need is Reid to get to 10 points for the Hornets. Simple, right?

    Memphis Grizzlies (+118) at Golden State Warriors (-138) | O/U 235.5 (-105/-115)

The Grizzlies (1-0) started off the post-Ja Morant era with an outright victory, while the Warriors (0-1) are looking to bounce back after a loss to open the season.

Memphis routed Utah 123-103 to cover as an 11.5-point favorite while the Under (240.5) cashed, as Ty Jerome absolutely went off. He dropped 45 points on 17-of-25 from the field, while hitting five triples with seven rebounds, six assists and a block. He was one of four players with 12 or more points.

For Golden State, it had its lunch handed to it by the Los Angeles Lakers, falling 127-105 at Crypto.com Arena as 17.5-point underdogs while the Over (229.5) connected. The Dubs shot 41% (38-of-92) from the field, and just 22% (8-of-36) from downtown. Steph Curry was Steph Curry, going for 23 points with two triples, but he can’t do it alone. Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg debuted with 12 points, while Jimmy Butler and Brandin Podziemski were each sidelined, as is Moses Moody.

The Grizzlies are relatively healthy, with only big man Isaiah Stewart (ankle) nursing an ailment. We know Jerome isn’t going to be on a heater like he was in the opener, and Memphis is a bit of a patchwork roster. But, we’ll roll the dice on the Grizzlies to get the job done outright on the road, while taking the Under.

And, again, until we start to see some trends develop, and our data set is expanded, we’ll keep it real simple on the props. Let’s take Curry to hit at least three triples in the home debut to get us over the 4X hump, but don’t play that prop straight up, as it will cost you nearly 4.5 times your potential return.
