Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Memphis Grizzlies

Cedric Coward has scored fewer than 14 points in two consecutive games. He’s averaged a 20% usage rate, but he’s shot just 45.3% from the field over the last 10 games. Ultimately, the Timberwolves rank second in the NBA in field goal rate against shooting guards and fourth in points. Coward has attempted nine field goals in two of his last three games. It’ll be hard for him to add at least 14 points with that kind of volume.

Meanwhile, Julius Randle just finished with seven rebounds against the Grizzlies last time out. He had 12 rebound chances and played over 35 minutes in that one. Memphis currently ranks 23rd in total rebounds allowed and is in the bottom 10 in offensive and defensive rebounds allowed to power forwards. Randle has averaged nearly nine rebounds per game in his last six contests against the Grizzlies.

Naz Reid had five assists against Memphis to close out January. He tallied six potential assists in that game. It makes sense, especially since the Grizzlies rank 28th in assists allowed to centers this season. Reid has averaged about four potential assists per game over the last 10 games. But that number should rise again when he faces the Grizzlies.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Los Angeles Clippers

VJ Edgecombe should start to get more looks with Paul George suspended. He played 37 minutes against the Pelicans last time out and only had a usage rate of 13.1%. Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are the top scorers, but Edgecombe will be involved a little more now. He’s shooting 45.5% from the field and 37.3% from deep over the last 10 games. Tonight, he’ll battle a Clippers team ranked 26th in points allowed to shooting guards.

Meanwhile, Kawhi Leonard is racking up assists lately. The All-Star snub has added at least four assists in five of his last six games. He’s also added at least nine potential assists in two of his previous three games and will face a Sixers team ranked 28th in assists allowed to small forwards.

Consider John Collins to add at least six rebounds. He’s hauled in at least six in each of his last two games, including his nine-rebound performance against the Suns last night. Collins has had at least seven rebound chances in each of his previous three games, and he’s averaged fewer than seven rebound chances over the last 10 games. The opportunities are starting to grow. Take advantage and back the over.
