NFL Monday Night Football Odds, Picks & Predictions: Eagles vs. Buccaneers (Week 3)

Week 3 comes to a conclusion on Monday Night Football as the NFC South’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the NFC East’s Philadelphia Eagles.

Below, I will walk through my best prop bet to make for MNF.

Best Bet for Monday Night Football: Eagles vs. Buccaneers

Two undefeated teams square off in what should be an entertaining game on Monday evening. Despite Philadelphia’s 2-0 record, it has not looked quite like the same team we saw during last year’s playoff run as it narrowly escaped both the Patriots and the Vikings in the first two weeks.

The secondary hurt the Eagles in both those games, proving that the loss of C.J. Gardner-Johnson over the off-season was key. They surrendered 316 yards to Mac Jones in Week 1 and 364 yards to Kirk Cousins last week, and now they are tasked with going against a pass-heavy Tampa offense that could take advantage.

This game will serve as a better test of whether or not this version of Baker is sustainable, but he has been lights out through the first two weeks. Over those two games, he is 47/68 with 490 yards and a 3-0 TD:INT ratio.

I will take 5.5 points here, which opens the door for a backdoor cover even if Baker and the Bucs are trailing by two scores late in the game. The Eagles have relied heavily on their run game this year, which is to be expected given that O-Line.

However, Tampa’s linebacking corps is spearheaded by Devin White and Lavonte David, two guys who are up-to-the-task and should be able to limit the big-runs when Swift inevitably gets past the first line. Minnesota and Chicago are certainly not the most impressive rushing teams, but the Bucs still held them to an average of 54 rushing yards.

If Tampa can limit the rush and Baker takes advantage of a pass defense that has struggled, then it should be able to keep this game close.
