NFL Sunday Night Football Touchdown Scorers: Lions vs. Panthers

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Detroit Lions First TD Scorer: Jahmyr Gibbs (+150)

No one has found the end zone more than Jahmyr Gibbs over the first three weeks this season. The former Alabama star has six touchdowns, tied with Josh Allen, Derrick Henry and Jaxon Smith-Njigba for the league lead. The superstar running back has found the end zone at least once in every game, including three times in last week's win over the New York Jets, with two on the ground.

Furthermore, Gibbs has scored Detroit’s first touchdown in two out of three games. Meanwhile, the Panthers' run defense has improved after being crushed in Week 1. However, they surrendered four rushing touchdowns to the Chicago Bears in Week 1, including three by D'Andre Swift. Bettors should back Gibbs to score the first Lions touchdown on Sunday night and to find the end zone twice (+155), as he's done that twice this season.

Carolina Panthers First TD Scorer: Chuba Hubbard (+245)

While many expected Chuba Hubbard to lose his starting job to Jonathon Brooks, the former Texas star continues to struggle with injuries. Meanwhile, the veteran has been outstanding to start the year, totaling three touchdowns.

Furthermore, Hubbard has scored on the ground and through the air, leading the Panthers with two receiving touchdowns and three offensive scores. More importantly, Hubbard has scored the first Carolina touchdown in two of the first three games.

Meanwhile, the Lions’ pass defense has been horrible over the first three weeks. Unfortunately, their run defense hasn't been much better. Detroit has surrendered 4.5 rushing yards per attempt and two touchdowns to opposing running backs.

Furthermore, the first touchdown scored against the Lions has been a rushing touchdown in two of the first three games, including by Kendre Miller in Week 1. After failing to find the end zone last week, expect Hubbard to score a touchdown against Detroit.

Anytime TD Scorer: Amon-Ra St. Brown (-120)

Last week, Amon-Ra St. Brown had his worst performance of the year. The superstar had four receptions on eight targets for 19 receiving yards, setting season lows in every category. Yet, he still found the end zone for the third consecutive game.

Furthermore, St. Brown has been almost as good at finding the end zone as his teammate Jahmyr Gibbs. The superstar wide receiver has five receiving touchdowns this season, the second-most in the NFL.

Despite scoring at least one touchdown in every game this season, St. Brown is only -120 to score an anytime touchdown. More aggressive bettors should bet the superstar to find the end zone twice at +500, something he has done twice this season.

Meanwhile, the Panthers haven't faced an elite wide receiver like St. Brown over the first three weeks. Unfortunately, they will have to face the superstar wide receiver without their two starting cornerbacks.

Anytime TD Scorer: Darren Waller (+245)

Bryce Young is fifth in the NFL with seven passing touchdowns. Unfortunately, Carolina's receiving corps has been hit by the injury bug. Jalen Coker is questionable to play on Sunday night with a quad injury.

While it sounds like a game-time call, the Panthers could sit the star wide receiver and give him two weeks to heal, with their bye coming up in Week 5. Meanwhile, Xavier Legette was placed on injured reserve (IR) because of a knee injury.

Therefore, Darren Waller could be Young's No. 2 option in the passing game against the worst team in the league at keeping tight ends out of the end zone. The Lions have surrendered six receiving touchdowns to tight ends, the most in the NFL.

They've given up a touchdown to six different tight ends over the first three weeks, allowing two scores in every game. More aggressive bettors should also bet Tommy Tremble to score a touchdown at +550.
