NFL Sunday Night Football Picks & Player Props: Falcons vs. 49ers (Week 7)

Over the last three weekends, we’ve gone 5-1 with our NFL Sunday Night Football picks. For each Sunday Night Football game, I’ve added a game pick and player prop. So far, it’s been a profitable article.

Tonight’s game features the Atlanta Falcons and the San Francisco 49ers. Ultimately, the Falcons are coming off a massive win over Buffalo. Meanwhile, the 4-2 49ers continue to deal with significant injuries. Can the 49ers overcome these injuries against the Falcons at home?

Atlanta Falcons vs. San Francisco 49ers (Game Pick)

The Atlanta Falcons have won two consecutive games and three of their last four. Ultimately, the offense has performed well, but the defense limited the Buffalo Bills to 14 points in a 24-14 primetime win the previous weekend.

Jeff Ulbrich leads the Falcons as the defensive coordinator, having coached alongside Robert Saleh with the Jets before Saleh took the defensive coordinator position at San Francisco. Now those two will compete against one another as defensive coordinators. You’d have to imagine both coordinators know each other well enough to help relay information to other coaches.

In addition, San Francisco has already ruled out Brock Purdy for another game. He’s inching closer to a return, but it’ll be Mac Jones for tonight’s game. Jones struggled in a 30-19 loss to Tampa Bay last week. The 49ers have lost two of their previous three games, but should have George Kittle back in the lineup this weekend. He’ll give the 49ers some more star ability, but it wasn’t like Jake Tonges played that poorly in the first place.

The 49ers have had trouble running the football this season. Christian McCaffrey and the rest of the group have added 82.17 yards per game on the ground. That can’t continue to happen, especially against the Falcons.

Atlanta has allowed 114 yards per game on the ground. They’re not dominant against the run, but have allowed just 139.40 yards per game in the air this season. The 49ers have to get the run game going against Atlanta to have any chance of winning this game at home.

But with the running game comes clock management. I expect some long drives that might result in just three points. The under is where I’m going.

    Pick: Under 47.5 Points (-120)

George Kittle Under 51.5 Receiving Yards (Player Prop)

The Atlanta Falcons rank first in the NFL in yards after the catch. They also rank first in receptions, first in targets, first in receiving yards, first in pass completions and first in passing yards.

George Kittle is finally taking the field, but we don’t know how healthy he is. We also don’t know his snap count. We’ve also never seen Mac Jones play with George Kittle in the NFL. We don’t know how that chemistry will work.

That said, asking for 52 receiving yards from Kittle, against a Falcons defense that has looked great against the pass, is too much. I’ll back Kittle to go under 51.5 receiving yards.

Pick: George Kittle Under 51.5 Receiving Yards (-110)
