We’re on to Week 3 of the National Football League (NFL) regular season, and it’s the last week before we start to see more international games, and potentially some fun weather. But let’s focus on the games on hand Sunday and Monday in the United States.
After a ton of indoor games (boo!) in Week 2, we have 13 of the 15 venues with outdoor sites in Week 3. While it has been ‘False Fall’ lately, we are seeing summer trying to keep its grip on the country. Hopefully, we’ll start seeing cooler weather with plenty of precipitation take over soon. Who doesn’t enjoy a rain, snow or wind game? Indoor football is the worst, but that’s just one man’s opinion.

Las Vegas Raiders at Washington Commanders (-3) | Total 43.5
Forecast: 72 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 5-7 MPH
There will be plenty of cloud cover as the Raiders travel east of the Mississippi for the second time in three games. However, it should stay dry in the nation’s capital, as they just miss the light rain from Saturday.
Atlanta Falcons (-5.5) at Carolina Panthers | Total 43.5
Forecast: 83 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 5-7 MPH
Summer is certainly maintaining its grip on the Queen City. This will feel like training camp or preseason weather in North Cackalacky, not late September weather. We could potentially see some cramping issues early on, although humidity decreases dramatically from 80% in the late morning to around 40% by the end of the game, as a dry cold front pushes through.
Green Bay Packers (-7.5) at Cleveland Browns | Total 41.5
Forecast: 81 degrees, 15% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 11-13 MPH
The Packers hit the road to try and pile on the Browns. We should see a lot of defense in this game, as Cleveland’s rush defense is on fire this season, while its offense is hot garbage. Winds could also potentially make the coaches think twice about passing and kicking, leading to more runs. Running runs clock, which Under bettors love.
Pittsburgh Steelers (-1.5) at New England Patriots | Total 44.5
Forecast: 67 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind speed: 5-8 MPH
Soon, Foxboro will be one of the places to watch very closely for weather. From October into November and December, things get sloppy in New England. While temperatures will be coolish compared to the rest of the country, and we’ll have some nice cloud cover, don’t expect any trouble from precipitation for this AFC battle. It will be a dry track.
Los Angeles Rams at Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5) | Total 44.5
Forecast: 74 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 8-10 MPH
The last time these teams met in the NFC Divisional Round of the playoffs, the California-based Rams had to deal with snow in the City of Brotherly Love. It will be markedly different on Sunday, with a slight wind providing the only challenge.
Indianapolis Colts (-4.5) at Tennessee Titans | Total 43.5
Forecast: 87 degrees, 50% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 6-8 MPH
One trouble spot will be in the Music City. Some showers are expected to move in around the second quarter, although it shouldn’t be anything that causes much trouble. Isolated thunderstorms are in the forecast for the late afternoon, but that will only affect the fans driving home.
New York Jets at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6.5) | Total 43.5
Forecast: 91 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 6-8 MPH
We mentioned cramping above, in the Atlanta-Carolina game. That could also be an issue on the Suncoast, as temperatures will push up to 92 or 93 degrees during the course of the game, meaning the on-field temperatures will be well in excess of 100 degrees, and we’ll have abundant sunshine, with no chance of liquid relief.
Cincinnati Bengals at Minnesota Vikings (-3) | Total 42.5
Forecast: Indoors
Wind Speed: This game is played in a dome
The Bengals and Vikings are indoors, so the battle of QB Jake Browning and QB Carson Wentz won’t be affected by the weather outside. Who remembers the old days when the Vikings played outdoors in Bloomington? Man, that’s two stadiums ago. I’m old. Moving on.
Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars (-1.5) | Total 43.5
Forecast: 86 degrees, 10% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 12-14 MPH
The Texans and Jaguars will play in temperatures in the upper 80s, but the good news is that we’re not expecting a weather delay in Duval like we had in Week 1. There will be some gusty winds, which could play tricks on the kicking game, so watch out for that.
New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks (-7.5) | Total 41.5
Forecast:64 degrees, 15% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 6-9 MPH
The showers are expected to taper off shortly before kickoff. Warmups will likely have a slick track, but conditions will turn to partly cloudy during the game, perhaps even with peeks of sun. That’s not bad for the Pacific Northwest this time of year.
Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers (-3) | Total 45.5
Forecast: Indoors
Wind Speed: This game is played in a dome
The Broncos are under a roof for the second straight week. Denver was involved in a high-scoring game in controlled environmental conditions last week. Might we see the same in their first divisional game of 2025?
Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers (-2.5) | Total 44.5
Forecast: 78 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 8-11 MPH
This NFC West battle will feature warm temperatures and a light wind in the Bay Area. Santa Clara is situated in an area that isn’t as bad for weather as the old Candlestick Park used to be. That’s bad for fans of bad-weather games, but good news for fans and players.
Dallas Cowboys (-1.5) at Chicago Bears | Total 50.5
Forecast: 75 degrees, 50% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 5-8 MPH
The sportsbooks are expecting a high-scoring game, but Mother Nature could have other plans. There is a 30% precipitation chance for the start of the game, with a ramping up of showers through the first half. There are scattered thunderstorms in the forecast for the second half, with a 60% chance of storms and a potential weather delay.
Kansas City Chiefs (-5.5) at New York Giants (Sunday Night) | Total 44.5
Forecast: 64 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 5-8 MPH
The Chiefs and Giants will have pleasant conditions for this Sunday Night Football battle, and the only precipitation chance will likely be Cris Collinsworth slobbering all over Patrick Mahomes.
Detroit Lions at Baltimore Ravens (-5.5) (Monday) | Total 52.5
Forecast: 74 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 4-6 MPH
This game had the potential to be a track meet, and conditions will stay dry, with not much wind to speak of. Expect the final game of Week 3 to be a barn burner.
