Two teams that were once rivals will meet on Sunday afternoon at Jerry World as the Pittsburgh Steelers head south to take on the reeling Dallas Cowboys. Somewhat of a microcosm since those days, both teams find themselves trending in opposite directions as the Steelers come into this one as the last undefeated team in the league as the Cowboys sit at a record of 2-6.

Overview
When Steeler’s quarterback Ben Roethlisberger decided that he was undoubtedly coming back from season-ending elbow surgery this season, he couldn’t have imagined this is what it would look like. And the lack of fans in the stands isn’t even the most surprising part.
Through seven games, Roethlisberger has guided this team to a 7-0 start, as they rank 5th in points scored (30.1) behind his 15 touchdowns and 1,628 passing yards. On the defensive side of the ball, the injury to starting linebacker Devin Bush has, for now, appeared to be manageable as the Steelers were able to do enough to knockoff the Titans and Ravens in the two games since.
For the Cowboys, a season-ending injury to starting quarterback Dak Prescott has gone decidedly not as well. After losing backup Andy Dalton as well, the Cowboy’s floundered in third-string rookie Ben DiNucci’s first NFL start, losing 9-23 last week to Philadelphia as the offense floundered to do much of anything.
The Cowboys will now turn to either Garrett Gilbert or Cooper Rush at the quarterback position, who combine for three career completions, 42 yards, and zero touchdowns. While he was limited at practice much of the week, starting running back Ezekiel Elliot is expected to start on Sunday.

If the Cowboys’ woes on offense won’t be enough, they come into this one ranking dead last in the league in allowing 33.3 points per game, to go along with 171 yards per game on the ground. I expect this Steelers’ offense to take advantage early and often, and for them to jump ahead early to hopefully give their guys a rest late.
Bottom Line
While offensive coordinator Kellen Moore certainly has a bright future in the league, he’s facing an uphill battle in choosing between two quarterbacks with virtually no game experience, let alone experience against a team of Pittsburgh’s caliber. With All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward back in the lineup following a quad injury that was potentially keeping him from this one, I like Pittsburgh to go up early and pound the ball late, not letting the Cowboys get a whiff of the end zone.
