Sirois: Knicks -3 (-108 at DK Sportsbook)
The Knicks burned me when I took them last, but I refuse to stay away from them here. They’ve improved substantially in offensive efficiency over their last three games, as they rank 13th in the NBA over that span. In contrast, Minnesota ranks dead last over their last three and third-last over the full season. Tom Thibodeau and Julius Randle have found something in New York, and they should easily cover a three-point spread against the floundering Timberwolves — Thibs’ ex-team. My model projects the Knicks for at least a 4.2-point win here, too.
Top Team Prop of the Day
Sirois: Nets Over 115.5 (-104 at FD Sportsbook)
The Nets scored 124 points against the Clippers earlier this month. While they did have Kevin Durant in that game, they have been averaging 124.3 points per game without him over their last three. Los Angeles’ slow pace is cause for some trepidation, but Brooklyn’s fifth-fastest pace should be enough to compensate. This total is set far too low with too little juice for me not to feature it.
Top Player Prop of the Day
Sirois: R.J. Barrett Over 14.5 Points (-120 at FD Sportsbook)
This total remains far too low. Barrett has gone over it in his last two games, and aside from a four-game stretch during which Thibodeau admitted to resting his starters (Barrett averaged just 23.4 minutes per game through that span, compared to his season average of 33.7), Barrett has gone over in 70% of his games. The T’Wolves allow the fourth-most points per game to small forwards, where the Knicks have been trying to get him to play more frequently, and I suspect that he’ll nose over this total for the third-straight game.
