Top WNBA Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (9/5)

Welcome to another day of the WNBA season! The playoff race is hot right now with the number one seed up for grabs while the Dream, Mystics, Sparks, and Sky jockey for three finals spots. It has been a solid season so far from a betting standpoint so I hope to continue that trend. Here are my favorite bets for tonight's slate. Be sure to shop around for the best odds.

Los Angeles Sparks at Connecticut Sun

I won't bury the lede here in saying that being a near double-digit underdog is wild for a team in the Sparks that is 7-3 in their last 10 games and coming off a solid bounce-back win vs. the Mystics on Sunday.

If you look at Los Angeles' seasonal stats, it is a bit misleading. Ranking 11th in offensive rating and 10th in offensive rebound rate, those are numbers that would lead me to put this team as a 9.5-point underdog.

The X-factor in this game has got to be Layshia Clarendon. The all-around guard has provided 10 points a game with three rebounds and 3.5 assists. When Clarendon is healthy, the Sparks are 17-4 ATS, so you get what I am saying when I say X-factor.

Los Angeles just earned a slot into playoff contention. I don't expect them to want to give it right back up, especially against an already clinched Sun team.

Chicago Sky at Indiana Fever

For an additional team contending for the playoffs, I am shocked the Sky aren't larger favorites tonight in Indiana. If there is any team with true grit – despite the long odds – it is the Sky.

That grit is led by Kahleah Copper. Leading Chicago to a one-point win at Los Angeles last week, I see her putting up a similar, 20-plus point stat line tonight, especially considering she posted 28 in these two teams’ previous contest.

I have to imagine the Fever have their sights set on whatever lottery draft pick they are looking to lead the team next year and a loss here will only increase the chances at number one overall selection. With the worst-rated defense in the league, I can see Indiana getting cooked tonight.

New York Liberty at Dallas Wings

If I am being completely honest, I may blindly bet the Liberty for the rest of the season. Even without Sabrina Ionescu on the court, this team has absolutely cruised, crushing the Sky and Sun.

Now, facing the Wings who just clinched a playoff birth, I expect the same, no matter Ionescu's status. After winning six straight and 13 of their last 14 games, I don't know how New York can't be priced as a double-digit favorite against any non-Las Vegas opponent.

Dallas may be disciplined but their defense is no match against the juggernaut that has been New York. Give me all of the points for the Liberty tonight.
