Sunday’s Best Big3 Picks & Predictions

Dallas Power (+105) at Chicago Triplets (-135) | O/U 94.5 (-115/-115)
In Sunday’s game, we get a battle for the top spot in the Big3, as the Power (6-1) and Triplets (6-1) sit atop the standings through seven weeks. This will be the final week before the playoffs begin Saturday, August 15, at American Airlines Center in Dallas before the championship on Saturday, August 22 at Spectrum Center in Charlotte. This matchup could be a playoff and/or championship preview.
Dallas leads the Big3 with a plus-63 point differential, while Chicago is right on its heels with a plus-46 point differential, second in the Big3.
The Power, led by coach Nancy Lieberman, has seen Elijah Stewart exploded for 118 points through seven games, or 16.9 points per game (PPG), while former Georgetown standout Greg Monroe Jr. has been a beast on the boards with 58 rebounds, or 8.3 rebounds per game (RPG). Glen Rice Jr. has also put up solid totals with 7.6 PPG, 6.0 RPG and 3.9 assists per game (APG). The Power have been a very well-balanced team, and they pounded the Detroit Amps last time out by a 50-32 score on July 31. Prior to that, Dallas spanked the Houston Rig Hands 50-34.
The Triplets are led by Montrezl Harrell, who we also saw play in The Basketball Tournament (TBT) for the University of Louisville alumni team. He has rolled up a gaudy 32.3 PPG through four games for Chicago, while grabbing 10.5 RPG. Leandro Barbosa, Amir Johnson, Wesley Johnson and Leandro Moss give this team plenty of balance, too. In fact, on defense, four of the five players have exactly four blocks.
Chicago topped the DMV Trilogy last time out, 51-41, but it suffered a 52-49 loss to the Amps prior to that. This team will go as far as Harrell can take them, but he should have his hands full trying to solve Monroe in the paint. Take the Power on the moneyline here, as that’s the better value, and let’s go with the Under based on the solid defense on both sides.

Boston Ball Hogs (-330) at Detroit Amps (+240) | O/U 92.5 (-115/-115)
The host Ball Hogs (5-2) can pull into a tie for second place with a win, as the Power or Triplets are guaranteed of taking a second loss in their head-to-head matchup. Boston is still very much alive and well, and it gets to play on its home court Sunday.
The Amps (1-6) don’t figure to offer up much resistance, although this is a team which stung the Triplets unexpectedly in Week 6, so don’t write off Detroit just yet. Coach Rick Mahorn leads a roster consisting of Corey Brewer, the co-captain with Nasir Core. Donte Green, a former first-round NBA pick by the Memphis Grizzlies, joins Chris Johnson and Henry Sims, as Detroit looks to finish up strong. Core has averaged 18.3 PPG with 6.4 RPG, while Brewer leads the way with 7.9 RPG, and Johnson is third with 6.5 RPG. Detroit has plenty of size to give Boston fits in the paint.
Boston has been led by Jeremy Pargo, who has rolled up 20.9 PPG with 5.4 RPG and 4.1 APG, hitting 17 3-pointers at a 34.0% clip, and 6 4-pointers, at a 40.0% clip. DeShawn Stephens has hit at a 62.7% clip from the field, averaging 12.4 PPG, while pulling down 8.6 RPG. Boston has edged the Miami 305 by a 50-47 count last time out in a good test, and it has won its past two games by a total of five points. Boston has shown it can blow opponents out, but also win close games, too.
Detroit catching nearly three buckets is quite a bit. We’ll side with the Amps, even though this game is in Boston, and there is a lot more on the line for the Ball Hogs. We’ll also go low on the total here.
