Saturday’s Best College Football Anytime TD Scorers (Week 6)
South Carolina Gamecocks at No. 16 Florida Gators
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Jadan Baugh is the best running back in the country and has scored 11 times in five games but was shut out last week in the loss to Missouri. Florida will want to reestablish itself as a threat in the SEC with a big win over a Gamecocks team that is 0-3 in conference play. To that end, they'll likely try to establish Baugh in the run game, especially after the Tigers stuffed him last week.
South Carolina has a decent run defense, but a mad Florida offense is better than they are. Of Baugh’s 11 scores, four have come in the second quarter this season.
Pick: Jadan Baugh Second-Quarter Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+130)
Arizona Wildcats at West Virginia Mountaineers
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
I considered betting on two or more touchdowns at +105 for a little breathing room on when Michael Hawkins scores. But Arizona has a tough run defense; it may be asking too much for Hawkins to score multiple times. However, he has recorded 11 touchdowns (two in the first quarter, four in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth).
The Wildcats have surrendered four rushing touchdowns, two in the first and two in the fourth. West Virginia will not abandon the run, even if it’s tough sledding against the Wildcats. I think they'll stick with it, get the run game going early and get Hawkins into the end zone in the first quarter.
Pick: Michael Hawkins Jr. First-Quarter Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+165)
Texas A&M Aggies at No. 14 Missouri Tigers
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Texas A&M has played well against teams they were expected to beat but struggled against legit competition. I'd say No. 14 Missouri qualifies as legit competition, and coming off their big win over Florida, they'll look to build momentum in conference play with a big win over the Aggies.
To that end, Austin Simmons will get the passing game on track early against the Aggies (No. 6 against the pass in the SEC). Donovan Olugbode has six scores on the season and at least one in every game. Simmons will undoubtedly look to him again in the end zone.
Pick: Donovan Olugbode Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+120)
Minnesota Gophers at Purdue Boilermakers
(Odds courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook)
My first thought when I saw this prop was, "No way!" A -107 price for a player with one touchdown in five games is ridiculous. But then I noticed that TJ Thomas Jr. is averaging 6.7 yards per carry and has 10+ carries in his last three games. Oh - and Purdue struggles against the run. The Boilermakers have already surrendered 10 rushing touchdowns.
If Thomas is ever going to get back in the end zone, this is the week for him to do so.
Pick: TJ Thomas Jr. Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-107)
