Missouri State at Middle Tennessee State
It's been a rough go of things so far this year for Middle Tennessee State. They sit just 1-4 and have losses to Kennesaw State and FCS Austin Peay. Their offense has really bogged them down this year. Out of 136 teams in FBS, the Blue Raiders rank 133rd in offense according to SP+. They've really struggled all year to move the ball on the ground. Averaging just 3.1 yards per attempt, 17.5% of their yards this year came on one 72 yard run.
Missouri State has had their ups and downs in their first year in FBS. They've won two matchups including games over Marshall and FCS UT Martin. One area they've struggled though is in stopping the run. Although they've only given up 164.2 yards per game, it's been on 5.4 yards per attempt, one of the highest averages in the country. This could be a game where the Blue Raiders get on track running the ball.
On the other side of the ball, the Bears should be able to move the ball through the air. Middle Tennessee State has struggled defending the pass. They've given up 13 touchdowns through the air while securing only three interceptions. Missouri State's offense has had success in the games QB Jacob Clark has been able to pass and I expect he'll have success in this one.
For a Wednesday night game, this one should have a lot of action. Both of these offenses match up well against the opposing defenses. I'll be taking the over.
