We are slightly over a month into the season, and some division races are beginning to take shape. We have a team off to a historic start (Rays) and a team we expected to excel struggling out the gate (Cardinals).
Let’s look at some bets that now look appealing for different reasons at this juncture of the season.

MLB Futures: Best Bets, Picks & Predictions (May Update)
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
First, here are the bets we have already included in the first iteration of this article and their current odds:
Phillies To Win WS: Was +1900 | Now +3000
White Sox To Win WS: Was +4000 | Now +15000
Orioles To Make Playoffs: Was +390 | Now +150
Texas Rangers To Win World Series (+2500)
The Rangers’ offense has been one of the best in the league, as they have scored the second-most runs in all of baseball. Their new-look pitching staff has had its ups and downs, including the loss of Jacob deGrom, but there is enough talent and postseason experience to make a run if the whole team is healthy. The issue in the AL is making the playoffs. The entire AL East appears to be good enough to make the playoffs. Plus, the Astros and Angels are in their division.
Chicago Cubs to Win Division (+500)
Going into the season, the Cardinals appeared to be the runaway favorites to win this division. They have been awful to begin the season and seem to be grasping at straws to make a pushback. The Pirates have gotten off to a great start but have lost seven straight. The Cubs have been middle of the road, but their pitching has the third-lowest ERA in the league, and their offense has several interesting pieces, plus some prospects who could make an impact. Matt Mervis is already up, and it’s just a matter of time before Chris Morel returns. This team has a lot to like, and the division is up for the taking.
Philadelphia Phillies to Win National League Pennant (+1500)
A lot of the same reasons that led me to pick the Phillies to win a World Series are why I like this bet too. While their pitching has been off to a rough start, their FIP as a team is actually among the upper half of teams, and they are getting Ranger Suarez back this week. They also just got Bryce Harper back, and this should help their offense continue to rise. The National League is much more wide open than the American League, and the path to the playoffs is much easier. As they showed last season, all you have to do is get in, and you can make a run.
