Tuesday’s Best NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions
This Season: 16-13
Brooks ended November with an ugly 0-of-11 night against the Philadelphia 76ers, his first zero-point game of the year. While that shooting effort raises alarms, he followed it up with a 16-point performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday. He was 6-of-11 in that game and 2-of-4 from deep.
The reason to like Brooks tonight is his improved three-point shooting. He's averaging 2.0 makes per game this season, which is up slightly from last year. He takes on the Kings, the team allowing the second-most three-pointers in the league tonight. Therefore, I believe he'll hit his average from deep. But Brooks isn't strictly a long-range shooter. He's averaging 4.6 field goals and 12.6 points per game this year. This is a favorable matchup, and though he's far from the leading scorer on the Rockets, I like him to go over his season average tonight.
Duren is averaging 9.6 rebounds per game, but he's been wildly inconsistent lately. He had zero boards in 13 minutes in his last game. Before that, he pulled down 12 rebounds against the Pacers, but he only had seven boards in the game before that one. This inconsistency makes it hard to trust Duren, as he's only hit nine or 10 rebounds in four games this season, despite his average being 9.6.
Tonight, I expect him to have one of his better nights. The Bucks aren't a great matchup, but they're not a bad one, either. They're allowing 52.3 boards per game, and the first time Duren met them this season, he pulled down exactly nine rebounds. With this being his first game after a zero-rebound effort, oddsmakers could have set this as low as they wanted to. It's telling that they kept it right around Duren's season average.
Barrett hasn't been super productive from beyond the arc this season, but he averages 2.1 makes per game. He's made at least two three-pointers in three consecutive games, and he's about to take on a middling Pacers' three-point defense.
Barrett only averages 5.8 attempts per game, but he's knocking down 35.6% of his threes. With the Pacers ranking 18th in the league and allowing opponents to shoot 36.2% from beyond the arc, there's no reason to expect Barrett not to be able to hit his averages tonight. If this were set any higher than 1.5, I'd stay away, but with it set right at his season average in a decent matchup, this is a must-play.
