Home and road splits sometimes seem trivial, but Golden State’s splits feel like they have some merit to them this year. The Warriors are 29-7 at home and 7-27 on the road. That is insane. Considering they always play from behind or in a tight contest away from Chase Center, it would be a wise decision to target their best scorer.
Curry is averaging 28.9 PPG at home this year compared to 31.2 on the road. He’s put up 29+ points in 16/23 road games, and the matchup looks to be fairly ideal against the Hawks, who are permitting the ninth-most PPG to guards this season. Both of these teams are in the top eight in pace, and with this ridiculously high total, there should be plenty of back-and-forth scoring at State Farm Arena tonight.
We now have a 15-game sample of the Dallas Mavericks post-Kyrie Irving trade, and it’s safe to say their defense is struggling without the likes of Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorrian Finney-Smith. Over this span, they are 24th in Defensive Net Rating, 25th in rebound% and 26th in points in the paint allowed. Anthony Davis is undoubtedly licking his chops for this matchup.
Davis accrued 30 points and 15 rebounds the last time these teams matched up at the end of February. That was the last time LeBron James played in a game. Since that game without LeBron, Davis has eclipsed this mark in five of his last seven, averaging 42 points+rebounds a game. Another 30/15 game definitely looks to be in the cards for “the Brow” tonight at home.
The Sixers aren’t the easiest matchup on paper for Kelly Oubre Jr., but his recent form is too strong to ignore. Since the LaMelo Ball injury, Oubre has joined the starting five and has had no trouble getting to at least 22 points. He has cleared this in six of his last seven games, averaging 25.4 PPG on 36.8 minutes and 18.3 FGA per game.
Over the course of the season, when Oubre has played at least 36 minutes, he has 22+ points in 13 of 15 games averaging 26.3 PPG. If you watch him play, he’s looking to score as soon as the ball touches his hands. He rarely passes the ball, and he is such a ball hog. That works in our favor here, though.
