Top WNBA Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (9/3)

Sabrina Ionescu

There are four games on the WNBA, including two-afternoon matchups and two matchups in the night. However, only two of the four are on national television.

Therefore, I’ll pay attention to the games on national television. That’s the Liberty-Sky game on ESPN2 and the Mercury-Lynx game on NBA TV.

Let’s earn some profit!

New York Liberty at Chicago Sky

The New York Liberty are on fire right now! The Liberty have gone 9-1 in their last game and just knocked off the Aces and Sun in back-to-back games. New York has scored 89 points per game but has only allowed 80 points per matchup this season.

New York has already won two of three against the Sky this season. The last win came on August 11, when the Liberty earned an 89-73 victory over the Sky at home. The last time the Liberty were on the road against Chicago, they notched a 77-76 win over the Sky, but that was back on June 2.

The Sky have won two straight games, but they’re still 4-6 in their last ten games. They earned wins over the Storm and Sparks but have recent losses to the Aces and Sun. Those are the two teams the Liberty recently defeated.

In their last game, the Liberty shot over 50% from downtown against the Sky. Meanwhile, the Sky shot just 41.4% from the field. Sabrina Ionescu has already been upgraded to questionable for today’s game for the Liberty. She’s been dealing with a calf injury, but she’ll give it a go and play.

Let’s take the Liberty -8.5 on the road.

Bet: Liberty -8.5 (-110)

Phoenix Mercury at Minnesota Lynx

The Mercury continues to be plagued by injuries and illnesses.

Diana Taurasi won’t play due to a toe injury. Sophie Cunningham and Shey Peddy are also unexpected to play in this game for the Mercury tonight.

All of these injuries haven’t helped the Mercury and are a big reason why they’re 9-27 in the regular season. Phoenix has now lost seven straight games. They’ve also scored just 76.6 points per game while allowing 83.8 points per game. Brittany Griner is back and available. In their most recent game, she added 15 points in 30 minutes against Connecticut. However, she had just three rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Lynx are looking to get back to .500 tonight. They’re 18-19 on the season and have gone 5-5 in their last ten games. Phoenix won the first matchup against the Lynx. However, the Lynx have won two straight since, with the last win being a 75-64 win on July 7.

Minnesota won’t have Jessica Shepard. She’s out with an ankle injury and typically scores eight points per game. However, the Lynx still have enough scoring, including Napheesa Collier, who has scored over 21 pints per game. Kayle McBride is also a solid contributor for the Lynx.

The Mercury have two of their top three players sitting out tonight. Give me the Lynx.

Bet: Lynx -4.5 (-110)
