NFL Monday Night Football Anytime & First TD Scorers: Bears vs. Seahawks

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Chicago Bears First TD Scorer: D'Andre Swift (+245)

While Caleb Williams leads the Bears' offense, the run game remains Chicago's focal point. D’Andre Swift has led the team's rushing attack, especially with Kyle Monangai missing time with multiple injuries. The former Georgia star has seven rushing touchdowns this season, the fifth-most in the NFL entering Week 8. He has scored at least one rushing touchdown in three consecutive contests. More importantly, Swift is the Bears' go-to back early in games.

Outside of the Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings in the rain, the first Chicago touchdown has been a rushing one in 66.7% of their contests. Furthermore, Swift has scored the first Bears touchdown in two of the past three games, including last week. Meanwhile, the Seahawks didn't give up a touchdown in Week 7. However, a running back scored the first touchdown against them in three of their previous four outings.

Seattle Seahawks First TD Scorer: Jaxon Smith-Njigba (+310)

No player is more critical to his team's offensive success in the NFL than Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The former Ohio State star has arguably been the NFL’s best pass-catcher this season, leading wide receivers in receptions (58), receiving yards (867) and touchdowns (eight), and ranking second in targets (78) entering this week. Smith-Njigba has scored at least one touchdown in five out of seven games this season, including in Week 7.

Furthermore, the superstar wide receiver has scored Seattle’s first touchdown in 57.1% of games this season, including last week against the Kansas City Chiefs. Meanwhile, the Bears made a massive trade earlier this week for Jeffery Simmons. While he will help Chicago's defense, expect Smith-Njigba to score at least once on Monday night. A wide receiver has scored the first touchdown against the Bears in three of their past four contests.

Anytime TD Scorer: Colston Loveland (+220)

Colston Loveland has been outstanding lately after an awful start to the year. The former Michigan star averaged three targets per game over the first three weeks, totaling four or fewer in every contest. By comparison, he has averaged 8.3 targets per game over the past four weeks, totaling seven or more in all but one contest, including a season-high 12 in Week 7. More importantly, Loveland has finally found the end zone, scoring a touchdown in back-to-back weeks.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks' pass defense has been one of the NFL’s best this season. However, Seattle has faced only two elite tight ends this year: Trey McBride in Week 2 and George Kittle in Week 5. While Kittle was kept out of the end zone, McBride scored a touchdown against the division rivals. Don't be surprised if Loveland scores his third consecutive touchdown on Monday night.

Anytime TD Scorer: AJ Barner (+230)

I thought AJ Barner had a good chance to find the end zone last week. Unfortunately, the veteran didn't score but had a solid performance, catching four passes for 42 yards on five targets. Furthermore, Jaxon Smith-Njigba (12) was the only other Seahawks player with more than three targets in Week 7. While Barner didn’t find the end zone last week, I'm doubling down on him scoring against the Bears on Monday night.

Last year, Barner led all tight ends on the team in targets (68) and finished second in receiving touchdowns (six). More importantly, Barner's matchup against Chicago gives him a chance to finally find the end zone this season. After not giving up a receiving touchdown to opposing tight ends over the first five weeks, the Bears have surrendered three over the past two weeks, including one to Eli Raridon in Week 7. Hopefully, Barner scores his first touchdown of the year.
