It's Sunday in the W as WNBA Commisioner’s Cup action rolls along. I'm back after a successful 2025 season, cashing nearly 54% of our picks. As always, I'm breaking down the top WNBA First Basket Scorer picks!

Seattle Storm vs. Washington Mystics

Shakira Austin has scored the first basket in four of her last five games. A nearly 4x return on an event that has an 80% cash rate of late is crazy value, even if relatively juiced.

Austin now has eight first baskets in 19 games, giving her an incredible 42.1% hit rate this season. In a league where no one else has more than five first baskets (A’ja Wilson, Dominique Malonga, Kelsey Mitchell), Shakira Austin returning +397 is quick hit value queen. DraftKings has a “quick hit” boost today and Shakira, Shakira, I’d boost her twice on Sundays, if I could.

Chicago Sky vs. Dallas Wings

Kamilla Cardoso is the main pick here. She has scored a game-high five first baskets in 22 games, while no other member of the Sky has more than three. Dallas' Paige Bueckers is the only other player with even four first baskets coming into the game. Cardoso has three first baskets in her last 10 games and already scored a first basket against Dallas the last time these teams faced on June 20.

Paige Bueckers (+563)has four First Baskets in 22 games this season, which is good for an 18.2% cash rate. However, she has also scored first in just two of her last 10 games and three in her last 15. On the other hand, her other half, Azzi Fudd, has silently knocked down three first baskets in her rookie season. Fudd has two in her last six games, and Jessica Shepard has scored the First Basket in each of the last two Dallas games and is still offering +660.

This quick hit is Cardoso’s to lose, and she is the main pick here, but Dallas has also scored the first basket in six straight contests, so something has to give here. This creates a ton of value if anyone other than the 6’7 Brazilian scores first.
