The WNBA regular season continues with a pair of matchups, both available on Amazon Prime Video. At 8:00 p.m. ET, the Golden State Valkyries and New York Liberty lock horns at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. And, at 10:00 p.m. ET, the Washington Mystics and Phoenix Mercury square off at 10:00 p.m. ET at Mortgage Matchup Center. The Valkyries (27-11) and the Liberty (23-15) meet at Barclays Center in a potential WNBA Finals preview.
Golden State has been amazing in just its second season as a franchise, and it has won the past two road games on the current trip after falling 73-70 in Chicago to open the five-game journey.
Golden State routed Connecticut 89-64 as 14.5-point favorites last time out, as the over (152.5) cashed. That was a rarity, too, as the under has hit in each of the past six games, and three straight on the road.
The Valkyries had previously been known for a slower, methodical offense, coupled with a lockdown defense. The latter hasn’t changed much, but the offense has really picked up the pace in the second half of the season.
Golden State has scored at least 78 points in 10 of the past 12 games and 89+ points in six of the past 11 outings.
Overall, Golden State is still 14th in scoring (82.6 points per game), but it has picked up the pace tremendously. Golden State is a good three-point shooting team - 34.6% (seventh in the WNBA) - and they’re only getting better.
Defensively, the Valkyries still lock it down, allowing just 76 points per game and 42.2% from the field, both top the league. It is so-so at guarding three-pointers, though, allowing 33.6% of attempts from deep (sixth in the WNBA).
These teams have met twice this season, with Golden State winning and covering both meetings, and the under cashed in both.
We’re going to take Golden State to get the job done outright once again, even though this game is on the road.
The Valkyries routed the Liberty 87-70 in their first visit to Gotham back on May 21st. And, given that the under is 6-0 in six all-time meetings, we’re going low on the total.
For props, Veronica Burton is the most consistent offensive threat, as Gabby Williams, Cecilia Zandalasini, etc. have been good, but a bit erratic.
Burton has double-digit scoring totals in each of the past six games, and she has averaged 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game across the past six outings.
We’ll simply take her to go over 20+ combined points + rebounds + assists to 4X on this SGP.

The Mystics (23-15) and the Mercury (13-25) meet in the desert at 10:00 p.m. ET.
The big news out of Phoenix this week was the team buying out DeWanna Bonner, allowing her to find a home with a contender to finish out the season. It appears she is headed to the Atlanta Dream.
Washington is a solid 10-8 on the road this season, winning both previous meetings against Phoenix by at least 10 points, with an average of 15 points per game.
The Mystics have easily covered both games, as the over has hit in each, too. The Mystics are 6-3 against the spread (ATS) in the past nine in the series dating back to September 5th, 2023.
Washington is playing very good basketball lately, going 4-1 straight up (SU) in the past five games and 11-3 SU in the past 14 outings since July 20th. That includes outright wins over Golden State, Las Vegas, Atlanta, etc.
The Mystics topped the Mercury 94-84 in the front end of a back-to-back set on Tuesday, covering as a 1.5-point favorite, as the over (167.5) cashed.
Washington shot 51% (35-of-68) from the field in that one, and 43% (9-of-21) from downtown, while grabbing 35 rebounds with just 12 turnovers.
Conversely, Phoenix shot 47% (33-of-70) from the floor but had a -9 rebounding margin and committed just nine turnovers. It was a dismal 18% (3-of-17) from behind the three-point arc, too.
Kahleah Copper had an off shooting night, going 7-of-16, including 0-for-3 from long distance, going for 19 points. Kelsey Plum, working her way back from an absence due to a calf injury, came off the bench for 10 points in 16 minutes.
Washington’s Kiki Iriafen continued to shine in the front end of the back-to-back, going for 18 points and 10 boards for the double-double, while Lauren Betts had 10 points with eight rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench.
Based on the series trends, we’ll back the Mystics laying the points, and we’ll take the over. For props, let’s take Iriafen to record at least 25 combined points + rebounds against the Mercury, who are missing Bonner’s presence in the paint on defense.
