Parx Sportsbook Review & Promo Code

by May 27, 2019

Call it a match made in sports betting heaven. With Parx Casino teaming up with Kambi Games to power the wildly popular Draftkings Sportsbook in New Jersey, you can be sure the dynamic duo will be just as successful – if not more so – when it opens up shop in Pennsylvania.

While PA isn’t expected to introduce mobile sports betting until mid-June – Parx Casino is reportedly close to testing its sports betting systems – we can glean some information both from the existing Parx Casino software, the brick-and-mortar Parx Sportsbook and the Parx/Kambi partnership in New Jersey.

Parx Sportsbook History

Originally named Keystone Racetrack when it opened in 1974, the site was purchased in 1990 by Greenwood Racing in 1990 and renamed Philadelphia Park (subsequently shortened to Parx). It achieved a major victory in 2004 when the state made it permissible for sites with horse racing tracks to operate slot machines and eventually table games at on-side casinos. It has been a profit machine ever since.

Parx Casino and Racing, in tandem with Kambi, launched its on-site sportsbook on Jan. 10, 2019. Borrowing from Kambi’s “Use Your Own Device” technology, Parx developed a Betslip Builder app that allows patrons to prepare their wagers on their phone before even reaching the window, provided that they’re physically within the casino. It then creates a QR code that can be scanned at the cashier.

First Deposit Bonus

While it’s unclear what deposit bonus Parx Sportsbook will offer once it launches its online offering, we can look at Kambi’s precedent via the DraftKings Sportsbook in New Jersey. And DraftKings is presently offering both a $25 sign-up bonus to new players (awarded via five separate $5 wagers and does not require an initial deposit to activate) and a 100 percent deposit-matching bonus up to $200.

There are, of course, conditions in both cases, and these conditions will almost certainly be attached to whatever deposit bonuses Parx Sportsbook will offer, as well. Those five free bets must be made within 30 days of your initial sign-up, and you’ll need to spend a certain amount in bets before claiming the bonus money (and anything won with that bonus amount) as your own.

Getting Started

Bettors will be able sign up for a Parx Sportsbook account in a variety of ways:

  • By heading to the Parx Sportsbook’s official website from a desktop or laptop and clicking on the “Register” button;
  • By accessing the website from the browser on a mobile phone;
  • By downloading the Parx Sportsbook app and registering from there.

In each case, bettors will be asked for personal information, including their full name, email address, home address and telephone number. Users will also be required to provide their social security number and some other form of ID verification, and also make use of some form of geolocation software in order to prove that they are within the state in order to proceed with the sign-up process.

For those who wish to see what Parx Sportsbook has to offer before taking the plunge, current odds are provided through the site’s “Bet Slip” feature, which allows you to see how Parx’s odds offerings compare to those of the competition. It’s impossible to know whether this will remain the case once the online sportsbook is live, but there’s a good chance that this will be the case.

Parx Sportsbook Interface

Parx Sportsbook App

There’s nothing fancy about the Parx Sportsbook interface at present; it’s a simple design with little clutter, but it lacks the design imagination of some of the other contemporary online sportsbooks. With that said, there isn’t really much incentive to creating an elaborate interface for a product that’s really only designed to allow casino patrons to put together a bet slip before making their way to the cashier. So you can expect something a little more ambitious once the online sportsbook is available to the masses.

And for those just stepping into the space, the lack of banners, promotions and other possible distractions isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Granted, these bells and whistles will almost certainly be offered on the fleshed-out sportsbook app, but with DraftKings getting high praise for the quality of its sportsbook interface, don’t be surprised to see Parx hit the mark here.

Deposit and Withdrawal Options

Here’s what you can expect in terms of deposit options, based on Kambi’s prior history:

Parx Prepaid Card: These will likely be available through either the Parx Sportsbook website or app; players will probably have to link their prepaid cards to an existing credit card.

Credit Card: Most sportsbooks only accept Visa and MasterCard at the moment. And players should also consider that they might be charged a fee, with most credit card companies treating sportsbook deposits the same as cash advances. Check with your credit card provider.

Automated Clearing House or e-check: You’ll be able to use an ACH or e-check by simply providing a bank routing number and account number. You can also try an online bank transfer using the same info.

Neteller: This third-party online e-wallet service will allow you to transfer money to your Parx account from your bank account or credit card.

Online Transfer: Some banks will allow you to fund your Parx account as if you were paying a bill; check with your bank to see if it will permit this.

PayPal: This is one of the safer and most reliable ways of funding your account.

PayNearMe: This service is offered through 7-Eleven; go into your Parx account, select “Cash at 7-eleven”, and bring the barcode sent to your phone to the store along with cash to fund your account.

You should also be able to fund your account via the Parx Sportsbook cage. There might very well be other deposit options available, but these are the most likely ones to be implemented.

For withdrawals, you can expect these methods to be made available:

PayPal: If you fund your account this way, you can request funds back to your account.

Automated Clearing House or e-check: You can request an ACH or e-check by providing the same bank routing number and account number you used to fund the account.

Parx Prepaid Card: Once your card has been activated and received, you can request to have money transferred onto it. You should then be able use the card at any ATM; with other sportsbooks, it usually takes around 36 hours for the money to appear once you have requested it.

Check: You can have Parx send you a check in the mail; expect it to take up to a week to arrive.

Again, these are not set in stone, but do align with industry standards.

Sports Offered

We won’t know for sure what sports Parx Sportsbook will offer, though we do know that their existing stable of sports includes the four major professional leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL), along with college football and college basketball. The hoops and gridiron offerings are even more robust than some ‘books, as well, with Parx currently offering CFL, Arena Football, EuroLeague and FIBA Champions League odds.

As for supplementary offerings, the pickings are a little slimmer than some competing sportsbooks; other sports listed include:

  • Boxing/MMA
  • Darts
  • Golf
  • Motor Racing
  • Soccer
  • Tennis

Don’t expect to see as wide a menu of fringe sports as some of the other big players in the space, though that will allow Parx Sportsbook to focus on a larger variety of bet types for its existing sport menu, which could prove to be a wise decision – especially once the NFL season gets going.

Promotions

The majority of sportsbooks offer a variety of promotions – and Parx Sportsbook will be no different, likely enticing players with many of the same promos offered up by sportsbooks like DraftKings. Those promos might include odds boosts on selected games or events, or “win back your bet” offers where players are given back their initial bet in credit if they suffer a particularly gut-wrenching defeat.

The brick-and-mortar Parx Sportsbook does have a fairly robust loyalty program, featuring multiple tiers that offer players a wide variety of perks along the way. Known as XClub, this program is broken up into three categories – Players, Premium and Elite – and offers community discounts, birthday promotions, invite-only events and other complimentary items depending on how high up the list bettors climb.

Bet Types

The brick-and-mortar Parx Sportsbook features every notable bet type available: Moneyline, Totals (Over/Under), Spreads (ATS), Props, Teasers, Parlays and Futures wagers. It also offers a wide array of live betting options across the majority of the sports it features. The mobile sportsbook will likely feature all of these bet types, and might even have a few surprises for wagering enthusiasts, as well.

Customer Service

Parx Sportsbook takes customer service seriously, providing the bulk of its support to those who reach out via phone or email. Customers can also use the site’s live chat feature. Support is offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the response time is impressively quick.

It also allows customers to reach out via social media, quickly responding to queries on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. But these options are more practical for those with quick questions rather than major issues – and the majority of straightforward queries are answered in the site’s detailed FAQ section.
