Marshall Thundering Herd (-142) at Old Dominion Monarchs (+120) | O/U 45.5 (-115/-105)
- Leg 1: Marshall -2.5 (-120)
- Leg 2: Under 45.5 Points (-105)
- Leg 3: Old Dominion Under 355.5 Total Yards (-114)
- Leg 4: Old Dominion Under 112.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
Marshall (4-3) travel to meet Old Dominion (2-6) in the Tidewater of Virginia on Saturday afternoon. The Thundering Herd have dominated this series lately, winning eight straight since Old Dominion’s last victory on November 5th, 2016.
However, the Thundering Herd are just 3-3 against the spread (ATS) in the past six meetings. The over has hit 5-2 in the past seven meetings. In the past three games, Marshall has scored 41+ points in each outing.
The Thundering Herd picked up a 20-13 win over South Alabama last time out, covering as 1.5-point underdogs. That halted a two-game skid and 0-3 ATS slide. Still, despite a slow start to October, the Herd are positioned well for bowl eligibility.
The Monarchs were 26-0 blanked by Louisiana Tech last Saturday, coming in as 13.5-point underdogs and failing to cover, as the under (43.5) cashed. The total has gone low three straight for Old Dominion, while the Monarchs are a dismal 1-6 ATS in their last seven outings.
We’re going to go low on the total in this Sun Belt Fun Belt action. And we’ll take Marshall to get the job done, and you should go rather aggressively laying the points with the Thundering Herd. Old Dominion averages just 250.4 total yards per game, ranking 138th in the FBS, and averages 98.4 rushing yards per game, ranking 135th. Let’s go low on both the total yards and rushing yards for the Monarchs, even if Marshall has a somewhat leaky defense.
Parlay Odds: +417
Northern Illinois Huskies (+1060) at UNLV Rebels (-2000) | O/U 54.5 (-105/-115)
- Leg 1: UNLV -20.5 Alt Spread (-136)
- Leg 2: Over 54.5 Points (-105)
- Leg 3: UNLV Over 201.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
- Leg 4: Jai’Den Thomas Over 98.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
- Leg 5: Jai’Den Thomas Anything Touchdown Scorer (-370)
Northern Illinois (0-7) has had a brutal season as it adjusts to life in the Mountain West. It travels to meet UNLV (4-3), and the Rebels are expected to be angry after a 41-31 loss at Air Force last time out, which halted a three-game win and cover streak.
However, Northern Illinois is 0-7 straight up and 1-6 ATS in its last seven games, with losses of at least 18 points in each of its past five. The defense has also allowed at least 28 points in every game, including a 28-24 loss to Illinois State.
UNLV has posted 31+ points in three of its past four outings, but the defense has held it back at times. The Rebels have allowed 28+ points in four out of the last seven games. Look for the over to cash in this one, and let’s back UNLV to get the job done against the number, though we’ll buy a point and a half to get it under three touchdowns just to be safe.
We expect UNLV to break this one open, and that should mean the run game takes over primarily by the second half. As such, we’ll go over 201.5 rushing yards for UNLV. Northern Illinois allows 220.9 rushing yards per game, ranking 135th in the nation, and 38.6 points per game.
We’re also going to take Jai’Den Thomas to approach the century mark and score a touchdown. He could do it in one fell swoop with a long gallop against the Huskies’ shaky defense.
Parlay Odds: +494
Oregon State Beavers (-220) at Fresno State Bulldogs (+184) | O/U 58.5 (-110/-110)
- Leg 1: Oregon State -5.5 (-115)
- Leg 2: Over 58.5 Points (-110)
- Leg 3: Jesse Legree 125+ Receiving Yards (+124)
Oregon State (5-2) and Fresno State (4-3) meet in a Pac-12 battle in The Valley.
After losing to two Big 12 teams to open the season, the Beavers have won five straight. They’re also 6-1 ATS in their past seven outings, with the over hitting three straight and six of the last seven. A big reason is Jesse Legree. The freshman from Baltimore has already logged 1,040 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, while averaging 22.6 receiving yards per reception.
The Beavers can roll up huge points, scoring 48+ in three straight games. The defense has coughed up 26+ points in four of the last seven games, but the way the Beavers score, the defense doesn’t have to be perfect.
Fresno State has been tripped up in its last two games against Boise State and San Diego State University. The non-cover as 6.5-point favorites at San Diego State University halted a five-game ATS cover streak. The over is 3-1 in the past four games for the Bulldogs.
