Today, I oppose another prospective National League playoff contender in the Philadelphia Phillies, while also betting against a starting pitcher making his first start against his former team after being dealt before the trade deadline.

Baltimore Orioles at Minnesota Twins
- Leg 1: Orioles Moneyline (-108)
- Leg 2: Trevor Rogers Under 2.5 Earned Runs (-130)
- Leg 3: Coby Mayo 1+ Hits (-125)
Trevor Rogers is 4-0 with a 1.99 ERA and a 5:1 K:BB ratio in his last eight starts. Baltimore has gone 7-1 in that span, and I expect the southpaw to lead the team to another victory.
Rogers’ ability to turn his season around after a poor beginning has been impressive. Over his first 10 starts, he was 2-6 with a 6.84 ERA in 48.2 innings. He also allowed a .291 opponents’ batting average and eight home runs in that span. But over his last 11 starts, he is 5-1 with a 2.28 ERA in 67 innings. He has also limited opponents to a .215 batting average and three home runs.
Dean Kremer will likely be dealing with a lot of emotions while pitching against his former team for the first time. I am expecting the red-hot Coby Mayo to get the best of him, as he is coming off a three-hit game and is slashing .412/.412/.824 over the last seven days.

Philadelphia Phillies at St. Louis Cardinals
- Leg 1: Cardinals Moneyline (-104)
- Leg 2: Andrew Painter Under 3.5 Strikeouts (-153)
- Leg 3: Kyle Schwarber 1+ Hits (-231)
Anytime the Phillies have trotted out a starting pitcher not named Cristopher Sanchez, Zack Wheeler or Jesus Luzardo, it has been in trouble. Philadelphia had a stretch from June 24th to August 4th without winning a game not started by those three.
Andrew Painter doesn't inspire confidence after not recording a win since March 31st. In addition, Philadelphia is just 3-11 in his starts and hasn’t won when he has toed the rubber since May 18th.
Painter recorded four strikeouts over four innings before being removed from his last start with a hamstring injury. The concern over that injury lingering, plus how good St. Louis is at making contact against southpaws, is why this under on his punchouts is my favorite player prop from this game.
The Cardinals sport an 18.1% strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season. That’s only worse than the Diamondbacks among all MLB teams. Even as things have started to worsen for St. Louis since the start of July, its strikeout rate in that split has only risen to 20.9%, which is still the eighth-best in the league.
Kyle Schwarber ended a 17-game home run drought yesterday and is still the National League leader in that category. Even though this somewhat contradicts my Cardinals Moneyline play, I’m backing him to record a hit, which he has done in four straight games following a six-game hitless streak.
