Friday’s Best +EV NBA Picks

(Odds courtesy of bet365)

James Harden over 2.5 Made Three-Pointers (+130)

Yes, Philadelphia plays solid perimeter defense, so it won’t be easy for James Harden to hit a trio of three-pointers against them. However, he did just that in the season opener in Philadelphia, hitting three of his six attempts from deep. Harden has cleared this total in six out of eight games, including his last four.

If this were a minus-money prop, I’d say forget about it out of respect for Philadelphia's defense. However, with a shooter like Harden, it is not hard to see him making three shots from beyond the arc against the 76ers. At +130, I’d call this player prop a solid value play.

Memphis Grizzlies Moneyline (+147)

If the Thunder were at full strength, or down only a player or two, I could see them favored on the road against another team with a 6-2 record (like Memphis). But they are down Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Cason Wallace, Jaylin Williams, Nikola Topic and Thomas Sorber.

They handled the injuries well against a solid Cleveland squad in their last two games. But Memphis has a top-five-rated offense and defense. Memphis has a healthier rotation than Oklahoma City, and home-court advantage is working in their favor.

This is absolutely a winnable game for them.

Portland Trail Blazers Moneyline (+123)

I get why the Lakers are favored:

  • They’re at home.
  • They’re 4-1.
  • Luka Doncic is healthy.

As long as Doncic is playing, the Lakers can beat anyone. With Ja Morant out for Portland, this game could easily go L.A.'s way. However, the Lakers’ only home loss came at the hands of the Trail Blazers.

Morant played a role in that win with 23 points, but he was one of four Portland players to score 20+. Deni Avdija, Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday could certainly make up for his absence.

Both teams are playing well; I don't see either having a significant advantage, which makes Portland at +123 a solid value play.
