    Charlotte Hornets (-158) at Brooklyn Nets (+134) | O/U 213.5 (-108/-112)

The Hornets (3-5) and the Nets (1-6) meet on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. ET at Barclays Center.

Charlotte started the season 3-1 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) in the first four games, but they’re on a four-game slide since Oct. 28, while going 0-4 ATS. The Hornets have scored 91 or fewer points in three of the past four outings, too, so playing Charlotte comes with some risk.

However, the Hornets have already won in Brooklyn this season, posting a 110-103 victory as a 1.5-point favorite on Oct. 21 while the Under (219.5) cashed. The Hornets cashed the Under in the first six games before the Over hit in the previous two outings.

For the Nets, they finally got their first win in Indiana on Sunday, 98-90, as a 3.5-point underdog, but that’s their only victory in seven tries. Three of the past four losses since Oct. 25 have been by 13+ points, with the Under cashing in each of the past three outings.

We’re going to take Charlotte, especially since Kon Knueppel (hamstring) is probable, or very likely to play. For the Nets, Egor Demin (bone bruise) is sidelined.

For the player props, Naz Reid was a strong add for the Hornets. He went for 20 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists in 33 minutes on Oct. 21 in Brooklyn, perhaps his finest game of the season. We’re going to tap into that again.

    Portland Trail Blazers (-148) at Phoenix Suns (+126) | O/U 227.5 (-110/-110)

The Trail Blazers (5-1) and the Suns (1-4) meet at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Portland has won five of the first six outings, including a 124-83 rout of Phoenix at Moda Center in Oregon on Oct. 21 in the opener as a similar 3.5-point favorite, while the Under (232.5) cashed. The Trail Blazers have won and covered the past two games, the first consecutive covers of the season, while the Under has cashed in three straight outings.

For Phoenix, it rebounded from that beating for the Blazers to top the Golden State Warriors 131-122 on Oct. 24 on Oct. 24, but the Suns have dropped three in a row since. And, the Suns are an imperfect 0-5 ATS on the season, while the Over has cashed in four in a row.

Portland has won three in a row in this series, and five of the past seven meetings, while going 3-0 ATS in the past three, and 8-2 ATS across the past 10 meetings. The Over has cashed in five of the past seven encounters in this series, too.

Let’s go with Portland, and do so rather aggressively with a straight up play. However, as part of an SGP, we’ll also go high on the total in this second meeting based on Phoenix’s play lately, as well as the series trends.

For the player props, if you’re a frequent reader in this space, you know I love a player combo play, particularly points + rebounds + assists, while using one of the top players. Deni Avdija fits the bill for that role, and we need him to get to a combination of 37 or better.
