We have a nationally-televised doubleheader on ESPN, as the Minnesota Lynx and Indiana Fever meet at 8:00 p.m. ET in the first game, and the Los Angeles Sparks and Las Vegas Aces meet at 10:00 p.m. ET in the second matchup. Minnesota Lynx (-112) at Indiana Fever (-108) | O/U 187.5 (-110/-110)
The Lynx (32-10) and the Fever (27-15) meet at Gainbridge Fieldhouse at 8:00 p.m. ET in the first game on ESPN.
Minnesota won the first meeting in the Twin Cities 108-100, cashing as a 5.5-point favorite on Aug. 2, while the Over (191.5) cashed.
The Lynx enter this game just one game ahead of the Golden State Valkyries for the top seed in the WNBA playoffs. Minnesota has managed an 18-3 record on the road, which is actually a little better than how it has played at home. Minnesota also has a +7.5 point differential, tied for the best mark in The W with Golden State.
Minnesota is just 1-3 SU in the past four games, however, and it has failed to cover in the past four outings. The Under is 3-1 in that four-game span, too, while the total has gone low in six of the past eight outings.
The Fever are a game ahead of the Washington Mystics for the fifth seed. They have a 14-7 mark at home, and Indiana has a solid +5.8 point differential this season. Indiana has won three of the past four outings, and it is 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in that span, too. The Over has cashed in four of the past five outings, as well.
We’re going to take the Fever straight up, as they’re just playing better basketball lately. Indiana has scored in triple digits in four of the past five games, and that’s too hard to ignore. In addition, the Fever have allowed 91 or more points in seven of the past eight games. Let’s go high on the total.
Picks: Fever Moneyline (-108) & Over 187.5 Points (-110)
Golden State Valkyries (-1000) at Portland Fire (+650) | O/U 157.5 (-115/-105)
The Valkyries (31-11) travel to meet the Fire (16-27) at Moda Center in Portland, and they are, again, trying to catch the Lynx. Golden State is just one game back for the top spot in the league, and the Valkyries easily have the easier path here.
Golden State has won six in a row, going 6-0 ATS in the span, too, while cashing the Under in four in a row. The total has gone low at a 10-1 clip in the past 11 games since Aug. 9, too.
For Portland, it’s eliminated from the postseason chase, and it wraps the season up against an extremely tough opponent. The Fire have lost four in a row, while going 1-3 ATS, as the Over and Under have alternated in each of the past eight games since Aug. 21. That includes an 86-59 win by Golden State in Portland, as the Valkyries cashed as a 6.5-point favorite on Aug. 30. In that game, Golden State shot 48% from the field, while Portland shot 39%. The Valkyries were plus-2 in the rebounding department.
Golden State is a perfect 3-0 SU/ATS in three meetings this season, while the Under is 2-1 in those outings. It won 82-66 in the first game back from the FIBA World Cup on Sept. 18, also against the Fire, covering as a 13.5-point favorite as the Under (159.5) cashed.
With so much on the line, and Golden State’s dominance in the series, let’s go with the Valkyries, while taking the Under on the total.
