Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook | All bets are for 1 unit
Kennesaw State Owls (+120) at Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (-142) | O/U 50.5 (-104/-118)
Kennesaw State (1-6) heads to Murfreesboro at 7 p.m. ET, and one more loss means the Owls won’t reach bowl eligibility this season. The Blue Raiders need two more victories to go bowling.
Kennesaw State is coming off a 34-6 home loss to Liberty as an 8.5-point underdog, and it has lost six straight since a win over West Georgia in the opener. Against FBS teams, the Owls are 0-6 straight up (SU), but 3-3 against the spread (ATS). The under has cashed in two in a row, and six of seven games this season.
Middle Tennessee topped Florida International 26-23 on the road, winning outright as a 10.5-point underdog for the biggest win of the season. At home, the Blue Raiders are a perfect 3-0 SU/ATS, including outright underdog wins over Delaware and Nevada. The over has cashed in the past three games, and the Blue Raiders have allowed 20+ points in six straight.
Let’s roll with Middle Tennessee and go rather aggressively on that. And let’s go low on the total, as Kennesaw State has shown no life on offense lately.
Picks: Middle Tennessee -2.5 (-122) & Under 50.5 Points (-118)
Jacksonville State Gamecocks (-160) at New Mexico State Aggies (+132) | O/U 49.5 (-110/-110)
Jacksonville State (5-2) heads to Las Cruces looking to take down New Mexico State (3-4). A road win would put the Gamecocks in the bowl picture.
Jacksonville State has won four in a row, including a 27-24 win over Florida International last time out as a 2.5-point favorite, as the over (44.5) cashed. The Gamecocks have won three of those four games by four points or fewer, and four of the past five games have been decided by that margin. The over is 5-1 in the past six outings for Jacksonville State.
New Mexico State is coming off a 30-24 road win at Sam Houston as a 5.5-point underdog, as the under (57.5) cashed. It has dropped three of its last five outings, while going 2-3 ATS during that span. The under has cashed in three in a row, too.
With the Aggies playing erratically overall but going 2-1 SU/ATS in three home games, and the Gamecocks playing plenty of close games, we should have a good game.
Let’s take New Mexico State catching the points, while going high on the total in the Land of Enchantment.
Picks: New Mexico State +3.5 (-115) & Under 49.5 Points (-110)
