(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Kyle Tucker (+230)
Let's get things started in the Twin Cities, where the Cubs (54-36) and Twins (43-47) open up a three-game series. Shota Imanaga gets the nod for Chicago, while Simeon Woods Richardson will go for Minnesota. First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. ET from Target Field in Minneapolis, MN.
Kyle Tucker has been raking this season, hitting .284 (34th) with 17 home runs (26th) and a .902 OPS (11th). I'll take a flier on the Chicago outfielder to go deep tonight against Simeon Woods Richardson (4.41 ERA) who has been susceptible to the longball this year. The Twins starter enters the new week with a 1.28 HR/9 rate. Tucker is 1-for-1 (1.000) with a single against the right-hander. Chicago's offense is on fire, and I expect to see Tucker help contribute tonight.
Alec Burleson (+380)
The Cardinals (48-43) are just 1-5 in their last six games, and they'll turn to Sonny Gray to try and turn things around tonight against the Nationals (37-53). Washington counters with Jake Irvin in this National League clash, which gets underway at 7:45 p.m. ET from Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO.
The Cardinals should do some damage tonight offensively. They've seen Jake Irvin (4.71 ERA) well in the past, as their lineup is slashing .333/.394/.600 against him over 30 at-bats. Specifically, Alec Burleson stands out, as he's 2-for-5 with a home run. I'll take a flier on the first baseman to touch 'em all tonight. Irvin has struggled to keep the ball in the yard, as he owns a 1.71 HR/9 rate.
Brent Rooker (+265)
The MLB action concludes out West with an interleague showdown between the Braves (39-50) and the Athletics (37-55). Didier Fuentes will toe the rubber for Atlanta, while the Athletics opt for Jeffrey Springs. First pitch is slated for 10:05 p.m. ET from Sutter Health Field in Sacramento, CA.
Atlanta's Didier Fuentes (9.00 ERA) has the highest HR/9 rate (2.25) amongst today's starting pitchers, so I have to take a flier on one of the A's hitters to go yard. I'll ride with Brent Rooker, who has 18 tanks (21st) this season, which leads his team in the category. Rooker has two bombs in his last eight games, as well as three big flies in his last 12 outings. He's consistently hitting the ball out of the park, and he appears to be a prime candidate to do so tonight at the hitter-friendly Sutter Health Field.
