(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+425)
A powerful offense has guided Toronto’s surge to the top of the American League East. First baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has risen to the occasion, slashing .409/.480/.636 with six extra-base hits across the Blue Jays’ last 11 games. A visit to Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Monday presents a chance to stay hot. After all, Guerrero Jr. has posted a 1.009 OPS and tallied nine home runs in 44 contests at the historic venue.
Zach Eflin will toe the slab for Baltimore. The veteran right-hander has struggled with the long ball as of late, surrendering 14 homers in his previous nine starts. Take note that he has recorded a dismal 5.40 ERA and given up 10 dingers in 10 career appearances battling the Blue Jays. Guerrero is 7-for-21 with two moon shots and just two strikeouts versus Eflin. Back the Toronto superstar with confidence in this matchup.
Francisco Lindor (+370)
San Diego’s Dylan Cease has gone in the wrong direction following his top-five National League Cy Young finish in 2024. The 29-year-old hurler’s 4.59 ERA and 1.30 WHIP through 21 outings are pedestrian marks. Missing bats remains Cease’s specialty, yet he is yielding a career-high 10.1% barrel rate and 41.8% hard-hit rate. His opponents are not wasting opportunities to crush the ball. Overall, Cease has been taken deep in six of his nine home starts.
The Mets come to Petco Park on Monday with five double-digit home run hitters, including Francisco Lindor. The All-Star shortstop sticks out considering he boasts three jacks in 12 at-bats facing Cease. Lindor has also racked up 25 extra-base knocks with the bases empty. That is tied for the 14th-highest total among National League pros and notable since 11 of Cease’s 16 home runs allowed on the campaign have been solo ones. Expect Lindor to shine.
Gleyber Torres (+370)
Gleyber Torres electrified the Detroit crowd with a three-run opposite-field home run during Sunday’s 10-4 win over the Blue Jays. It was an example of how well Torres is seeing the ball at the plate. The Venezuelan slugger ranks as a top-30 batter in chase rate (16.7%) and squared-up percentage (31.2%). An ability to stay patient and exploit pitches thrown in the zone paints Torres as an underrated threat to go yard.
Arizona’s Eduardo Rodriguez will be tasked with challenging Torres on Monday. The southpaw relies on his four-seamer more than any other pitch in his arsenal, tossing it nearly 45% of his time on the mound. Keep in mind Torres has batted .335 and logged 19 of his 27 extra-base hits against fastballs. Not only that, but the Tigers second baseman is 9-for-27 with four homers and 10 RBI versus Rodriguez. Trust the trends in this showdown.
