Will Smith (Odds TBD)
It can be easy to overlook Will Smith in a Dodgers lineup full of superstars. The 30-year-old has been one of the Dodgers’ fiercest weapons at home, though, logging a .353/.442/.578 slash line to go with six home runs in 36 contests. Smith also sports the 11th-highest launch angle sweet-spot percentage (41.6%) in the league. That comes in handy when playing in a stadium that ranks fourth in Statcast’s offensive park factors in 2025.
The White Sox will hand the baseball to Aaron Civale on Thursday. The veteran right-hander has surrendered six homers in five road outings this campaign. Keep in mind that Civale has made one career start at Dodger Stadium. That came when he was tagged for four runs across five innings in July of 2024. Will Smith took him deep during the first and third innings of that clash. Trust the recently named All-Star catcher to add another jack to the tally.
Taylor Ward (+400)
Atlanta’s Bryce Elder racked up 12 strikeouts in dominating fashion against the Giants on June 7th. However, he has gone downhill since then. The fourth-year hurler followed up. that performance by allowing 18 earned runs on 25 hits and eight walks in three starts (10.2 innings). An inability to miss bats continues to haunt Elder. He checks in outside the top 320 pitchers in hard-hit rate (47.2%) and has been torched for a home run in nine of his 13 outings.
The Angels visit Truist Park on Thursday with a chance to smash the ball. Outfielder Taylor Ward sticks out considering he leads the team with 14 homers and a .571 slugging rate in away games. He has also gone yard 17 times facing right-handers, which is the fourth-highest total among American League batters. Expect Ward to exploit a stellar matchup and increase his potential trade value with a moon shot.
Eugenio Suarez (+350)
Talk about flying under the radar. Arizona’s Eugenio Suarez was not even named a National League All-Star finalist at third base despite leading the position with 26 home runs and 69 RBI. The Venezuelan beast boasts a career-high 50.5% hard-hit rate and is tied for fifth in the Majors with a 415-foot average homer distance. It’s worth noting Suarez has posted a ridiculous .987 OPS at home and will play at Chase Field again on Thursday.
San Francisco’s Robbie Ray is well on his way to an All-Star nod, but he has had some trouble with the long ball as of late. The crafty southpaw has conceded a dinger in four of his last five starts. Take note that Suarez is 4-for-11 with a blast versus Ray and is slugging .589 when thrown a four-seam fastball this season. That is the pitch Ray relies on most at 53%.
