Jacob Misiorowski Over 7.5 strikeouts (-267 at Bet365)
Jacob Misiorowski has been elite this season, boasting a sparkling 1.34 ERA, 0.74 WHIP, 13.6 K/9, and a .140 batting average against. His 131 strikeouts, 13.6 K/9, and 39.8 K% lead the Majors. The Miz is MLB's preeminent flamethrower, topping out at 104 MPH regularly. He has held opponents to zero earned runs in seven of his last eight games, and has struck out eight or more batters in eight straight games. He will face off against one of the more disciplined teams today, but is still expected to rack up the K's. The Atlanta Braves average just 7.89 strikeouts per game, but the Miz is in a tier of his own this season. This line was so hot that it jumped from 7.5 to 8.5 overnight, so you will either need to take the extra risk or eat the juice like we like to do here on Fridays. Feel free to keep it to just a one unit wager; don’t feel the need to chase the one unit payout, especially with the Braves being today's opponent.
Kevin Gausman Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-270 at Bet365)
Gausman has more name than game and is still riding discourse momentum from his 2021 season, but has been objectively excellent against the current collection of Chicago Cubs hitters. Gausman boasts a .169 batting average against versus the current Chicago Cubs hitters over 90 at-bats. He has been solid this season with a modest 3.41 ERA to go with a strong 1.03 WHIP and .227 BAA. Gausman's strikeout total has been set at a value stifling 5.5, so we will be using an alt line to drop it to 4.5. Yes, the juice goes up significantly, but that is because the hit probability does as well. Gausman has recorded five or more punchouts in seven straight games and is in an excellent position to do so again against a team he has a good track record against. Shea Langeliers Over 0.5 Hits (-250 at BetMGM)
Shea Langeliers is in the midst of an all-star level campaign and is currently hitting .276 with 19 home runs. While his average has dipped in June, he has collected at least one hit in 10 of his last 11 games. Langeliers is facing a tough pitcher today, but it is one he has had tremendous career success against, even if he was blanked when he faced him last month. Shea is batting .500 lifetime against Jose Soriano in 14 at-bats. Four of those seven hits were extra-base hits, and two of them were long balls. For his part, Jose Soriano has been excellent with an 8-4 record, 2.79 ERA, a modest 1.23 WHIP, and a strong .208 batting average against, so keep this to a one unit wager, don't go for the one unit payout. At 1.5 hits and most other books, you will want to lock this one in sooner rather than later.
