Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview

Both sides are in major need of a win on Monday. The Cardinals have dropped five straight games after starting the year 2-0. Quarterback Kyler Murray has not suited up since Week 5 as he continues to deal with a foot injury. He has been ruled out once again, and veteran Jacoby Brissett will earn another start in his place. Meanwhile, the Cowboys have fallen short twice in three weeks as they sit below .500. Dallas’ defensive struggles remained the top story in a 44-24 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 8.

There seems to be no end in sight for the Cowboys’ issues on defense. They rank as a bottom-three team in opponent points per game (31.3), yards per game (404.6) and third-down conversion rate (52.4%). All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs landing on injured reserve (IR) serves as another nail in the coffin. Arizona’s defense has been more reliable than Dallas’, yet it is a unit that tends to crumble under pressure. The Cardinals have conceded at least 14 fourth-quarter points in each of their past three defeats.

Taking advantage of what should be ample scoring chances will be crucial in this matchup. The Cowboys have been offensive powerhouses at home, averaging a league-high 41.3 points and 441 yards through three clashes. Quarterback Dak Prescott has posted nine total touchdowns and one interception in that span. Arizona has been far less impressive on the road. The Cardinals have logged the third-fewest yards per play (4.8) and second-fewest yards per completion (8.5) in the NFC across three games.

There’s a reason this battle features a small spread. It could go either way, but I am backing the Cowboys to get the job done inside AT&T Stadium. They have emerged victorious in 15 of their previous 20 home contests when Prescott is guiding the offense. The Cardinals have lost 15 of their last 20 games away from State Farm Stadium. A lack of backfield depth and the absence of Murray are going to make it difficult for Arizona to keep up on the scoreboard. Dallas has exciting playmakers all over the field.

Week 9 Monday Night Football Parlay

Let’s stay on the ground when picking an anytime touchdown scorer here. No running back has seen more touches inside the 5-yard line than Javonte Williams (15). The UNC product has also racked up the third-most yards after contact at his position (356). The combination of heavy usage and an ability to shed tackles is worth targeting in this market. Overall, Williams has found the end zone in all three of Dallas’ home contests, while Arizona has allowed an opposing running back to score in five of its seven games.

Bet: Javonte Williams Anytime Touchdown Scorer/Cowboys to Win (+129)
