One popular way bettors try to find value on NFL lines is by playing teasers. An NFL teaser is similar to a parlay; you add multiple legs that must all win for the bet to pay out. The key difference from parlays is that a teaser allows you to buy points - like 6.0, 6.5, or 7.0 - in a direction that lowers risk.
Teaser Tips to Follow:
- Never cross over 0
- Tease through two key numbers, ideally 3 & 7
- Tease games with lower totals, ideally anything 49 or fewer
Below are three NFL Week 9 teasers, along with my best teaser bet.

NFL Week 9 Teaser Picks
(Odds via Caesars Sportsbook)
Detroit Lions (-8.5 to -2.5) vs. Minnesota Vikings
I love backing the Lions at home. They turn it up another notch when playing inside Ford Field. In three home games thus far, they have averaged 36.5 points per game.
I love Brian Flores, but I think sometimes people overrate his defenses, especially this year. Since Flores became the Vikings’ defensive coordinator in 2023, the Lions’ offense put up 30+ points in all four meetings, with a perfect 4-0 record, with only one game within three points.
Pittsburgh Steelers (+3.5 to +9.5) vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Steelers got embarrassed at home last week in primetime, losing 35-25 to the Packers. The Steelers looked as if they forgot how to plate defense in the second half, allowing the Packers to score points on all of their second-half possessions. Now they face a Colts team that owns the best record in football at 7-1, with their lone loss coming at Los Angeles against the Rams.
While Indy has been impressive, they have had a cakewalk of a schedule. Of their eight games, three have come against teams with a winning record. Over their last four games, they have faced the Raiders, Cardinals, Chargers and Titans - a combined 10-20 record.
The Steelers are more physical and you could argue a better-coached team than any of those four teams mentioned. Expect Mike Tomlin to have his team ready for this matchup. Look out for an outright win by the Steelers. If not, they should be able to keep this one within 10 points.
Buffalo Bills (+1.5 to +7.5) vs. Kansas City Chiefs
We all know the history between these two teams, so we don’t have to get into it, but Josh Allen and the Bills are looking for revenge after another heartbreaking playoff loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
Good news for Bills backers is this one will be played in Buffalo, and the Chiefs may be without two starting offensive linemen with Josh Simmons out, and Trey Smith labeled as questionable.
The Bills have quite a few injuries as well, but will get All-Pro linebacker and the team’s defensive MVP, Matt Milano, back this week.
This Line has moved over the course of the week. The Chiefs opened as 2.5-point road-favorites, but we have seen this line come down a full point, meaning a lot of respected money is coming in on Buffalo.
I think Buffalo with a touchdown cushion gets us to the window.
Green Bay Packers (-12.5 to -6.5) vs. Carolina Panthers
Green Bay is the best team in the NFC, and it’s not even close. They have one of the biggest home-field advantages in the NFL, and the combo of Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love has been electric at Lambeau Field.
While 12.5 points is a big number, I would not be surprised if the Packers cover it, but knocking it down to below a touchdown is too good to pass up. In their three homes this year (Detroit, Washington, Cincinnati), they have outscored their opponents 81-49, with an average margin of victory of 10.5 points.
Best Bet: Week 9 6-Point Teaser
Lions -2.5/Packers -6.5 (-125 at Caesars Sportsbook)
