Tuesday’s Best NHL PrizePicks Player Predictions
Nikita Kucherov More Than 1.5 Points
The Lightning have won back-to-back games, with multiple-goal wins against the Jets and Devils. When all facets of the game work, they are among the best, and they still have most of their core pieces from their Stanley Cup runs.
They face another group of champions tonight, but this team is not playing well. The Penguins have had the same group of future Hall of Famers for almost 20 years, but besides Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, there isn't much offensive support. Defensively, there is nearly none, as they are last with 3.90 goals and 32.8 shots allowed per game.
This is one of those matchups in which Nikita Kucherov can be effective, especially since he has scored multiple points in three of his last five games.
Artemi Panarin More Than 0.5 Assists
The Rangers won the Presidents’ Trophy last season, but the curse continues. It's been 13 years since the team with the most points in the regular season won the Stanley Cup. They are once again one of the top teams on both sides, ranking third in goals allowed (2.38) and sixth in goals scored (3.56).
Vancouver has lacked consistency. They have been on winning and losing streaks, and they've recently traded off wins and losses. They can score but give up goals, as each side has identical 3.18 goals scored/allowed metrics.
What makes this Rangers offense so good is that they distribute the puck well and have multiple players that can score. Artemi Panarin can do both with 10 goals and 14 assists, but he's been more of a helper lately with an assist in five straight games.
Aleksander Barkov More Than 0.5 Assists
This could be a Stanley Cup Finals preview with the two of the best teams in their respective conferences - Florida Panthers and Winnipeg Jets.
It didn't look like one in the last game, as the Panthers rolled to a 5-0 win against the Jets. Although they are an excellent defensive team, their offense has propelled them. They are fourth in goals scored.
Florida did something no other team has done this season: They shut out the Jets. They were also only the third team to score more than four goals against them. They also did it against reigning Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck.
It's because Florida has one of the deepest rosters in the league. Aleksander Barkov does so well in setting up his linesmen. He has an assist in nine of the 10 games he's played this season.
