Thursday's Best MLB Player Props & Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook unless otherwise specified)

Elly De La Cruz Over 0.5 Runs Player Props (-120 at FanDuel Sportsbook

There are not many hitters hotter than Reds slugger Elly De La Cruz at the moment. De La Cruz has homered in four of his last six games, and has four multi-hit games in his last eight while slashing .333/.452/.706 this month.

De La Cruz has not just plated himself with home runs, as the rest of the Reds lineup has done well to drive him in when he reaches base. De La Cruz has scored 12 runs in the last eight games and has at least one run scored in 16 of his last 23 games, which includes a stretch of seven consecutive games with at least one run scored in late May.

Twins righty Chris Paddack’s 4.39 xERA is worse than his actual ERA. Given that he ranks in the bottom fourth of the league in xBA, whiff percentage and strikeout rate, De La Cruz should get on base early and often and has a great chance to cross the plate yet again. I will look for better odds when they become available at DraftKings Sportsbook, but I will back these -120 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook if none surface at the former.

Tyler Anderson Under 3.5 Earned Runs Player Props (-110

The Yankees’ offense has been abysmal and historically bad of late. Not only did New York enter Wednesday being shut out in three straight games, but it was also the first team in American League history to do so while striking out 10+ times in each game in that span.

Not only had the Yankees been scoreless for 27 straight innings entering Wednesday, but they had scored just six runs over the prior 62. They still entered yesterday top four in batting average on balls in play (BABIP), slugging rate and wRC+ against left-handed pitching. But now the suddenly light-hitting Yankees face lefty Tyler Anderson, who has pitched to a 2.05 ERA in four career starts against the Bronx Bombers. Anderson has also limited current Yankees hitters to a combined .207/.304/.355 slash line.

Until New York gets out of its offensive funk, I am fading it at all costs. The under on Anderson’s earned runs is the best value play.

Brandon Nimmo Over 0.5 RBI Player Props (+170)

Braves righty Spencer Strider has had a rough go of it in his career against the division rival Mets thus far. He has allowed a combined .325/.427/.564 slash line in 80 combined at-bats to current Mets hitters, with Brandon Nimmo responsible for a lot of that damage.

Nimmo has eight hits in 16 at-bats against Strider, with four of those hits going for extra bases, including two home runs. He has a whopping 1.641 OPS against Strider, and 10 of his 13 home runs this season have come against right-handed pitchers.

While we are not calling for Nimmo to homer, we do acknowledge that his OPS is on pace to increase for the fourth consecutive month. I am backing Nimmo to drive in at least one run for the eighth time in his 17th game in June.
